That's why I'm totally out of my league when it comes to getting my mom a new phone. She's on cingular. I guess I don't want to find out how to unlock a gsm phone since I already bought her one and it would make me regret buying one if I could have gotten one from cingular and unlocked it easily...
Just a thought on your auction...post a pic of the phone with it on like u already have, but have it show the date and time on the screen so that bidders can see that it is a current shot, and not one from a while back. It might help grab some otherwise skeptical bidders/viewers.
Good call. I'll get on that right now. Taking pics of these screens is tough, especially with no one around at the moment to help
Alright, I added it. Does anyone think I should link to a higher res picture, or is that readable via eBay's service? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESE:IT&viewitem=&item=180062563519&rd=1&rd=1
I FOUND A SOLUTION FOR WATER DAMAGE,,REMOVE THE DOT WITH A SHARP KNIFE AND PUT IT AWAY FOR THE DAY YOUR PHONE GETS WET. I put mine on a piece of paper that self stick stamps come on then put it in an envelope and put it away.......I'm ready !!!!
Once that dot gets wet and turns red, it will not go back to white again. So that doesnt solve too much.
you take the dot out BEFORE it gets wet ,,my phone is only 2 weeks old and my dot is put away for a rainy day.
hmmmm..... Its on the back of the battery My dot under the battery door is red, but my phone never got wet. I checked my battery dot, and it was white. They put the primary dot in a bad spot that is too accessible to the tiniest bit of moisture
Thanks for the info, I had a second dot on the bottom of the battery, the first one I found was under the battery cover.........I'm good to go
You do realize that there is another dot that is actually inside the phone positioned near the motherboard that can only be accessed by taking the phone apart, right? -Jay
So do they take your phone apart while you are in the store trying to get a replacement, or do they give you a new phone, take it apart later, find it got wet, and charge you full price without your authorization?
I know that Cingular Cingular sends you a replacement phone, and you send the old one back to them. The condition that you get the replacement is that you agree that if they determine that it was damage to the phone, and not a defect you will be charged $150. In a sense you have already agreed to this by accepting the replacement. I'm sure that other carriers have similar policies. -Jay
Hm... that doens't sound THAT bad considering that buying a new phone without an upgrade deal would cost you more from them or the same from somewhere else like ebay where you could potentially get something you dind't expect.
I wouldnt try sending one back if I submerged it in water. But like most, my red dot under the door turns red and my phone has been NO WHERE near water. If I dropped it in a toilet, I wouldnt expect to sneak it by them. If my phone had a prob and they saw the red dot, they would think i submerged it, and thats why the phone is messed up, when the red dot probably wouldnt have anything to do with why it wouldnt be working.
What do you think they'd say to you right now if you took your phone in for something broken? Because only one of your dots is red, right? The other one you can see is fine, and I'd assume the one inside everything is fine... they must realize that the dots can turn red sometimes without being submerged?
This is so funny. My sister used to have an old Nokia years ago that sounded tinny and muffled until one day she dropped it in the toilet at work. It sounded much clearer after that. -Jay
Um, they would say, "how the hell do u have the Motorola UI on your V3M?!?!?!" haha...but seriously, I think they would say sorry, u got it wet, it is not covered, even though the battery dot is white and probably the one on the inside is as well...who knows. I dont care to want to find out.
