I have a new razr v3m and can not get it to sync with my pc. Have my own songs on pc and want to put them on phone. Have the Music Essentials Kit from Verizon. Have been on phone with tech support for 3 hrs. yesterday. No help. I don't know all of the abreviations being used here. Can anyone help me? thanks:confused:

First, you can throw away the music essentials kit ;) It has major issues that I dont think they have fixed. All you need is the usb cable, usb drivers (see attached), and WMP10 or 11. Once u get your phone connected and charging on your comp, go into Tunes and Tones and click sync music. If it fails to connect, let me know and I will get the patch that u would need.

Thank you for the information. Verizon store told me they would take the kit back if not satisfied. No wonder! I'm probably not the only one having problems. Will try your suggestion TODAY. Verizon tech support has been no help at all!!!!

Yea, thats the general consensus around here. Verizons CSR's have no clue about anything.

    Ok, try these steps.

    1) Shut off phone, disconnect from the computer.
    2) Run DriverTool 4.21a (see attached below if you need it)
    3) With phone OFF, plug it in, let windows automatically choose the correct driver
    4) Turn the phone on.
    5) Make sure the phone is charging correctly
    6) Run Sync Fix (see attached below if you need it)
    7) Restart your phone and your comp
    8) Connect the phone and go into Tunes & Tones and click Sync Music

If none of this works, let me know what version of windows you are running with which SP, etc.

Well, all went well until I was trying to find v3c phone and couldn't find it. Because mine is a v3m. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks so much.

Hey, I tried working with all of these files and extracting them all and trying to run them for my razr v3m, it's not working right, what am I doing wrong? Is this how you can download your own ringtones? my boyfriend has a nextel webiste he uses for his nextel phone called nextpimp.com or something, is there a similar site for razrs or something that anyone knows of thats easy to use?

Is everyone having the same problem? This is my first time with Verizon and the razr v3m. Have been with Cingular for years and never had these problems. I also did what Cincyball said to do but still no luck. It recognizes my phone as a v3c:(

It is supposed to be found as a v3c. It wont view it as a v3m. So dont worry about that part.

What version of XP? Home? Media Center? Pro? SP1? SP2?

This isnt for ringtones, this is just to add music to listen to on the phone. You need to hack the phone to send your own ringtones with Motorola Phone Tools.

What version of Windows Media Player are you using?
I am using WMP 10 with the Verizon RAZR V3m and it sync's withoutout a glitch after installing the correct modem drivers and Sync. patch.
When you connect your phone to your PC does it start charging, and do you see it in device manager as a "Motorola USB Modem"

WMP10 and WMP11 both work fine. Once drivertool is run, your device manager should like what I have attached. RD, what sync patch did u use. I have supplied one, but am told it doesnt work.

Hi all I to am having problem with my Razr tried everything sugested on this site. Here is how I am now going to get around it I have a mini sd card which i plug into my reader and down load from my media player. then reinstal into phone. havent tried it yet other than making sure that the player reads the card and says that i can sync. I think i might even be able to edit songs for ring tones. will keep u up dated if it works.

it wont work. ringtones have to be in the phones memory and be mp3 or midi. if u put them on the card in any form besides wma, u wont see them on when the card is in the phone, therefore u wouldnt be able to move them to the phones memory to apply as ringtone. if it were that easy, someone would have done it by now ;)

Hi, I too have tried using everything described here. No luck other than my computer recognizing a moto. modem and my phone charging. At least I can charge my phone through the PC now. Has anyone tried using the phone as a modem? I was wondering, since it's reading as a modem, maybe I could use it along with the laptop I'm hoping to get for Christmas. That would be sweet. Not a lot of wi-fi hotspots in my area.

:welcome: Yes, the phone can be used as a modem. It is called Dial Up Networking (DUN). Now there are 2 coverage area. One is EvDO (high speed) and the other is 1x (4 x speed of dial-up). If you use your phone as a modem for your laptop to dial out from, it is treated as a voice call. BUT, u MUST be using 1x. The process is called tethering. You arfe not legally allowed to do this with EvDO. You must buy the $60/month data plan if u want to do this. The way we make it work is, we force the phone into 1x mode ALWAYS. This doesnt change signal quality, or anything like that, it justs doesnt let ur phone connect to EvDO network, so whenever your cell has service, u have 'free' internet. I say its free b/c it takes minutes only. And if its after 9pm or a weekend, then its really free. The connection at 1x speeds is still 230.4 k/sec. Not too shabby. You will need to perform a seem edit to allow your phone to do this. Here is a guide from a site that has a great walk through for this -> http://www.hacktherazr.com/guide.razr.net.html . Now this isnt meant to replace your ISP. If you are downloading movies and have a lot of bandwith coming thru, it may raise a red flag w/ verizon and they could take action. A lot of us use this if we are out on the road, or w/e the case may be, and we want some quick access to emails, etc.
