    Hi guys,

i really need your all helps... basically my fone is V3M Verizon, NOT YET flash to Alltel firmware, I was suppose to load VERIZON skin but instead, I created a new folder, named XP, dir using P2K a/mobile/skins/XP , Originally V3M only has :) folder Blue, Default and Tropical, now i just added folder XP which make it four folders which i don't think its a good thing. Because to upload Verizon V3M SKIN, simply replace the :) XXX.mainmenu.bar and xxx.bgtitle.bar files

After created folder XP, i then copied :D XP.ski, :D XP.dat, :D XP1.dat, :D XP2.dat, turn out that these files are only capable of running under Alltel V3M Fone or Alltel V3M firmware flashed. Soon completed uploading the SKIN with P2K v3.2.6, I then turned off and back on the fone, follow :) Menu-> chose display -> changed from Default TO XP theme.

The poor things froze, I simply disconnected the battery and turn it back on, everything ok nothing changed, Still able to :) VIEW CONTACTS LIST, able to :) DIAL or CALL, the COOLEST THING *********:loony: unable to access MENU, i click on Menu, it froze for 5secs then got a flash white screen, fone reset itself and return to normal stage...

I know, i wasn't with me when i made this mistake, cause i'm new to this and didn't know differences between ALLTEL and Verizon, I thought its Alltel is the hack version of Verizon which unlock features and could do cool stuffs with, I didn't know they are two different firmwares. from two different companies.

I did went back into SKIN folder and delete XP folder but it does not restore back to the working stage, also tried, copy exact files from BLUE and rename them to XP with no luck

COuld someone help ME reset this to go back to the DEFAULT THEME so i could use the Menu, because i can't acess the menu, i can't change the theme back.

webpage which show how to modify skins found below

    thank you guys

You need to flash your phone with the Verizon monster firmware to reset your phone.

Dude I just Got my VZW v3m so I havent tried yet to mess around with the skins, but from what you saying I think the problem is that there is no definition of "mainmenu" in the new XP skin you created, therefore just copy a already compiled mainmenu_XP.bar into "/brew/mod/app_mainmenu/" and a XP_bgtitle.bar inside "/brew/sys/" folder. To be sure just copy one of the existing files ex. mainmenu_blue.bar to the PC and then upload it to the phone with the name mainmenu_XP.bar.

Hope this will help. Good luck

First, I saw on another posting that the V3m will NOT work with any skins right now.

I did the same thing you did. I loaded one and the menu looked funny. A few minutes later, the MENU stalled the phone for a few seconds. The Verizon tech siad I would have to reload the entire flash or replace the phone ($50 fee).

I found that MotoKit, though it doesn't do much for the V3m, it WILL do the MASTER RESET. I did that, all is good with the world again.

I got rid of the link, but the MotoKit software was a little hard to find. If you still need a copy, let me know and I will try to e-mail the zip file.

Yea, skins do not work with the VERIZON v3m only. Alltel, USCC, etc, they all work.

thank you all the the inputs,

allmondg, i google the motokit and it came up, and i did the master reset, and everythign working now, thanks for pointing that out....

FYI, as far as i know, motokit is GSM tool, beside do the Master Reset, do not play around with other options, Verizon V3M is CDMA base base not GSM

I've been a little out of the loop...I am going to have to search around for the latest firmware updates-

My bluetooth has been producing a nasty hum ever since I got it and I'm hoping this will fix it.

did you get the chance to reset your phone yet?

sorry i get too many randoms emails and i thought your is one of them so i didn't bother to read it untill i'm running thru a cleanup inbox

sad thing is i do not have the copy of the software anymore, cause i guess i would never make the same mistake again.

google for MotoKit, this small software is suppose for GMS for Xingular, T-Mobile and ATT phone, but it do the trick for your purpose of CDMA Verizon phone.

ok, google it up, it rem it really hard to find, but you its out there, connect your phone, like you would with P2K or what ever you currently using, verify if the phone its connected, BE PATIENT, the software might look as if it HANG or FREEZE but give it sometime, once the software fully loaded and detect your phone, find the menu and choose something like "MASTER RESET" reset your phone and restart the phone, go back the VZW phone using P2K or other alternative software, delete the SKIN FOLDER which you created ***PLEASE DON"T RUN IT***

p.s. DO NOT --------DO NOT -----------mess around with other options in that software, because i learned it the hard way, COMPLETE PHONE FIRMWARE INSTALLATION (FLASH) is the last solution and you don't want to do that, its took me couple of hours

did you have PST or MSU running in the backround before firing up Motokit. If not that is the issue more then likely. FYI if you continue to have trouble with Motokit, you can use Radiocomm to do the master reset also, just remember Radiocomm works of the Moto USB modem drivers and does not need MSU or PST. As an added FYI only do a master reset. Do not do a master clear that will wipe you phone like you just took it out of the box, so you'd lose all your contacts, pix,video...etc

Well just to help out a little if you deleted the folder that had the new skin with p2k commander you will also need to delete it with bitpim. It happened to me. The folder was gone with p2k, but in bitpim it showed up and when i deleted it everything was fine. Good Luck

Since HTR is down right now, I figured I would join up here and put some cents in.

for those of you don't know, you can use skinner4moto to edit one of the preloaded skins on the verizon v3m. (just google the term and you will find the page to download it). I've been able to use QPST to copy the files blue.ski, blue.dat, and blue1.dat from /mobile/skins/blue. Rather than trying to create a new skin from scratch, I used this skinner4moto to open to edit some of the stuff in the current .ski file. (you will want to make two copies of each of these files, one to work on and one to restore if things go wrong).

Some of the things I have been able to edit are:

    soft buttons
right and left soft buttons (in idle, pressed, and empty configurations)
font color on soft buttons (in idle and pressed configurations)
Note: these work only on some screens like dialing, in call, some of the "tools" screens

    Volume screen
the image that makes up the "window"
    title font color
    setting font color
    setting font position
    active image
    passive image

Top image for some windows (some in the menus and also pop up messages)
Text input/highlighted font colors (only works for dialing numbers and some of the "tools" screens)
Main Menu background color (for when the phone starts and shows your welcome message, as well as some of the "Tools" screens)
Background color (appears when the phone is started and shows your number)

The phone is not fully skinnable this way, but there is a good deal that can be done to tweak some things. To apply it, just replace the newly saved files: blue.ski, blue.dat, and blue1.dat to the phone. A lot of things such as texting and GIN are brew controlled and need to be hacked in ways I've not figured yet. There is a black bar hack (bottom only) that will work for the Verizon v3m at Howard Forums on page nine of the Verizon Maxx Ve skinning thread. (second post on that page I believe.) This will work for most of the other screens that editing the .ski file won't affect.

I've been able to use my edited skin in conjunction with the black bar hack and my custom blue theme files with out any problem.
