I am new to the Razr Line. I have a V3A model and I am trying to connect it to the Motorola Phone Tools. I plug the modem in when it tells me too and I get error message that says windows was unable to find drivers for the device. The Phone Tools program can't find it Either. So I downloaded and installed the Motorola Driver Installer 2.9. After plugging the phone in windows was able to install all the drivers for the hardware it detected. I was still unable to get the Phone Tools to find the phone. So I did the manual phone install. During this process it shows a Motorola modem on USB connection. Then I manually selected the Motrola CDMA type and then the V3A. The program then starts. The Phone Tools still can't talk to the phone. I can use the phone tools to dial out. But I can't use them to manage the address book and other items. Below are some screen shots of the windows I get. Thank you for any help you can give me. ftp://24.236.214.150/PUBLIC/Razr V3A/Image1.jpg ftp://24.236.214.150/PUBLIC/Razr V3A/Image2.jpg ftp://24.236.214.150/PUBLIC/Razr V3A/Image3.jpg ftp://24.236.214.150/PUBLIC/Razr V3A/Image4.jpg ftp://24.236.214.150/PUBLIC/Razr V3A/Image5.jpg ftp://24.236.214.150/PUBLIC/Razr V3A/Image6.jpg ftp://24.236.214.150/PUBLIC/Razr V3A/Image7.jpg
I have solved this problem thanks to a hacker site. Turns out that if you do enough updates to the Phone tools program the V3A is no longer in the list but the V3AM is and that driver works with out any problem.
Make sure you run the update program in the software several times. It seems to only do one update at a time and needs to be run several times to get all the updates. Does your computer recognize your phone? It should show up under device manager as a modem and as a Motorola USB composite device and a Motorola USB Diagnostic port. If you phone does not show up under device manager you will need to download a driver for it. Find and install this file. (Motorola_Software_Update.exe) do not attempt to do the following until your computer recognizes the phone. MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS NOT CONNECTED WHEN YOU START THE PROFILE SETUP PROGRAM. In the Motorola Phone Tools under select profile click on "New" and give it a name. Then select "OK" Then Select "CABLE" for the connection type. (I am using the cable that came with my Camera or you can over pay and get the Motorola cable). Click "NEXT" It will prompt you to plug your phone it make sure its on and plug it in. You will then get a window that says it could not detect your phone. Click "NO" Then a window will ask if you want to install the phone manually click "YES" Then Click "NEXT" Click on the Motorola Modem in the list and click "NEXT" In the next window place a check mark in the box DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY DETECT THE DRIVER. SELECT FROM A LIST. Click "NEXT" In the Left Pane click on MOTOROLA CDMA, In the Right Pane scroll down to the V3am then click "NEXT" Then click "FINISH" Your Done.
I just tried the steps you provided but all I get is Initializing....Please Wait..... and it won't do anything. What to do??
I have the exact same problem thats stated above. Is there any simple fix to do it? I've tried the steps but its not worked. Thank You in advance, John
the best way i have found that fixes this problem is getting a software called moto unlocker and useing that, it frees up a lot of connection problems. especialy with retrieving messages and data from motorola phones
