Any opinions on which is the better phone, or are they pretty much equal?

I don't know anything about the e815, but I do have a razr with Alltel and I enjoy it. I think this was asked on another thread, but not sure. I would just look around a bit.

I have know people with both phones. 2 people have Razrs (one of them liked the small thin part of it..but he's a klutz...so it'll be broken soon:browani: ) (the other..well she says that her phone takes sucky pictures and everything else is fine...but this is also the girl who dropped her phone in a glass of vodka -samsung 335- right after she bought it.) what can I say she's 20 and careless.

My best friend and her husband both have the E815 and they love it.! I like them too. Very sturdy feeling and have awesome sound. Big screens and easy to manuever around in.
    Just my :twocents:

The 815 is a terrible phone. Reception is mediocre, vibrate weak and the voice dial just doesn't work. The CDMA Razr is a bad phone too. The better Moto phones are over at the GSM phone dealers. The GSM Razr rocks and take a look at the Slvr. Their phones are enough to make me switch carriers.

Well, I used the GSM version of the Razr for 5 months with Cingular, and I liked the phone, but I thought that the speaker phone was weak on it. The volume is also low, but if you seem edit it, it will definitely be worth it.

The camera on the current GSM Razr is definitely not as good as the E815.

I would try out both phones and see which one you like the best in terms of the reception (be sure to check it at all places you go to, speaker phone (if that is a must for you), camera, battery life, etc.)).

On the contrary, I think the E815 has the best reception of any phone (and I have used TDMA, GSM, and CDMA) that I have had.

I had Cingular (and the black Razr), and I noticed that the call quality wasn't as good as Verizon (I don't want to get a debate going). The call quality on the GSM Razr seemed to be garbled.

Also, according to Buickman and people over on Hofo, there is new software out for the E815:

The voice dial worked fine for me before and after the update. The vibration is stronger now with the update. Before the vibrate wasn't as strong as the Razr, but it wasn't extremely weak (my Motorola 120t was weaker).

Remember, the phones are only as good as the network in your area.

The common concensus is that the E815 is one of the best phones VZW has for reception. The vibrate was horrible before the software update, but that is fixed now.

I concur. The software update gave the phone a usable vibrate. And it is one of the last phones available from VZW that does not have the VZW UI. Awsome phone overall. No regrets in buying it.

I think you guys made my point when you said the 815 is one of the best phones Verizon has. Take a look at what the other carriers offer then you'll know how lousy Verizon's offering is. I just left them and I've never been happier. The voice quality I now have is unbelievable compared to what I used to get on the Verizon network.

Like some said before, the E815 is the best phone Verizon offers for reception and voice quality and even battery life and the new software fixes a lot of the old bugs the phone had.
If the Verizon network in your area is crap, even the best phone will not get you as good results as a different phone on a good network in your area. I'm glad you found something that works for you.

I felt the same way when I left Cingular to join Verizon last month. I couldn't be happier now.
I guess it just depends on where you live.

So how is coverage for you with Verizon???

Have you been to various places with it to test it out?

I loved the e815 until it died on me :( . It was almost like the phone had some sort of electronic cancer. It gradually got worse and worse, i.e. freezing up, powering itself off, backlight never turning off. Eventually, it just quit turning on. I traded it in for a LG.

It's working out great. I have had zero problems so far. From Cache Valley to Salt Lake is where I am most of the time. I havn't wandered out of this area yet, but it's only a matter of warm weather and no school before I'm on a road trip!
But no matter where I am in this area, including inside buildings, I havn't had a problem.
    Thanks for the help!

You are very welcome! How's Verizon service through Sardine Canyon nowadays? Last time I went through and checked my phone it was quite weak in some spots.

I havn't yet used my phone through the canyon, but I have watched the bars. There are just two spots where the signal weakens, but on my E815 it never went below 3 bars. Pretty good, I'd say.
On Cingular I would lose the signal completely, and that was on a V180.

Interesting to see that Cingular doesn't have service through that canyon...I guess that shows you their dedication to Utah...also surprising that they don't roam on T-Mobile through the canyon cause I thought they have service there, and I have roamed on T-Mobile with my Cingualr phone up and down the Wasatch Front(that's the only time I can actually have a clear conversation with the person on the other line).

It's funny that Cingular does so well here considering how much better the service is with the other 3 large carriers, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. \
Mind you I did have service whilst in the canyon with Cingular, it was just a couple of spots that were dead.

I just got my E815 and i love it, some of my frineds have t-mobile,or cingular and cant get any good service around where we live or even in town, but ive always had verizon and it has always worked pretty good all around the different areas. well i just upgraded my phone from the samsung sch-a670 to the motorola E815 (new job cals for new phone!) and i couldnt be happier, sound is clearer all the features you could want, its all around great. my friend has the newer v3 with cingular and he hates it, i dont blame him, i used it before and it feels like its gonna break, sound isnt nearly as good as the E815, outside screen is much larger than the razor, so it is easier to see both screens, and the buttons on the E815 are a little bigger and stick out more(perfect for dialing in the dark) well i would go for the E815 anyday, but then again thats just my opinion and i do own the phone, i would have to say just try them both out if you cant decide

I have both (V3c & E815) and I love them. Each has there pros and cons, but I don't think I could pick one over the other.

sorry to change the subject for a minute here, but how did you get 2 seperate quotes? When I click on the quote option for one then I no longer have that option. What am I missing?

Sorry. To put this thread back on track, I have the V3m and not the E815. The E815 looks very impressive, but I preferred the V3m.

I have had very little problem with it, other than the stupid 3day OEM battery that came with it OR less than 2hrs if you try to watch a movie from the phone.

Both my wife and I have the 815 since December of '05 and we absolutely love them. I know of a few folks that have the Razr and they all seem to complain about the battery life. I even changed my antenna to a stubby antenna and the reception is still excellent.

    Good Luck.
