I've been through every forum known to man, and tried every "Snake Oil" posted, but nothing's Worked. I have a hammer, and now it's up to you to save this razr...................please!

MPT is tricky. Just to be sure, you have the phone on, but not plugged in until after you've clicked to detect connection in setup.

Ok, tried it, no go. The CPU seems to interact with the razr because it starts to charge, but MPT gives me the "no phone" pic. Could it be a problem from the download, and if so where can I download another app for MPT? And do I HAVE to use MPT? Is there another software out there or somethin'? Thanks, and the razr is still kickin'...........................for now.

Make sure you're MPT is updated to the latest version which is 4.36 I believe. You'll have to go through several updates since it only does one update at a time and you have to go through all older updates first.

As far as alternative means of acomplishing things... Exactly what model V3 do you have, what carrier do you use, and what exactly are you trying do with MPT?

And what kind of cable do you have - it could be the cable. Does it have a cylindrical thing in the middle?

Aaaah, the dreaded FutureDial cable. I forgot about that. You need a cable that doesn't have any boxes or round things inline. It screws up stuff.

Yes, My cable has what appears to be a cylinder right off the phone end of it. So is that bad or good? And I'm still trying all I know, but MPT doesn't seem to "see" my phone, the CPU does. By the way, thanks for all the input. I want to pull my pix off the razr, and upload ring tones. I have done it before with a friend's MPT and Razr, and all went well. Just wanted to do the same with mine. And if it matters, I'm on T'Mobile. Thanks again.

Yeah, what you have is what we refer to as the "FutureDial" cable. It is only good for moving contacts (and marginal at that). No good for pics or ringtones.

Thanks, I'll have to run out and find a non-FD cable. I'll let you know what happens.

Don't pay premium price for a cable. Get it from pcmicro.com.

    Here is a link:

    http://www.pcmicrostore.com/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:10502867

This is *exactly* what I bought a while ago to connect my RAZR to my PC for SEEM editing, MPT, etc. Works great and is CHEAP!!! $1.95 including shipping!!

I have no association with pcmicrostore.com other than being a very satisfied customer.

So wait, does that mean you 'shouldn't' use a cable with a thingy in it. I have been using the one that came with my digital camera and so far so good. I just want to make sure I am not screwing anything up. Or did I just get lucky that it works? Thanks.

    You stay classy...

The "thingy" as you call it many times interferes with the flow of data and makes the phone not connect to the computer. In MotoSpeak that is referred to as the "FutureDial", or "FD" cable. They generally work fine for transferring contacts and such, but the FD cable is not recommended for modding or hacking the phone's OS. In short though, if you're not having any problems then don't worry about it.
