So, why didn't Cingular fix the messed up software? That seems like the logical thing to do... or was it some weirdness Cingular wanted to have on the phone that messed it up? Like when VZW crippled the BT on the v710?
Moto, according to Cingular, they did. Here is what I know about the sequence of events: The phone first came out late 9/05. People who used it with the 64K SIm would lose the call log when power cycled and it ask to copy SIM contacts evertime. Cingular took it off the market immediately, upgraded the software and relaunched with a 3G 64K SIM, last month Truthfully so far Joseph is the only one that I know of that has a oroblem with this new combination. He kept getting the same weird txt message constantly. Cingular sent him a replacement which also had the exact same problem. Since anyone that owns an unbranded one has never had one problem with any of the available SIMs, it is Cingular's software that is causing it. I have an unbranded one and I have no idea what the Cingular software, that is missing from my phone, actually does.
I kept getting an automated text message from an OZMAIL that Cingular or anyone for that matter could figure out what the source was. I am sure it is a nice phone but I would still be afraid to even buy it from Nokia after getting two with the same problem.
Motohooligan, guess you don't want to see this post on the forum? Razr 3X voted 3GSM phone of the year for 2006? http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/motorola/14124-best-3g-phone-2006-a.html As the Borg says, "Resistance is Futile, you will be assimilated"
We'll see... I'm pretty happy with my v620 right now and the v360 looks pretty good if I need to upgrade at some point.
same thing happenned to the nokia 5110/5190 some years ago... man, everyone and their mother had one... it got so bad that even today (though no one, including their mother, has one anymore) you can find faceplates and headsets and secret cheat codes for it...
Eeeeew, my dad had one of those. I hated it. It also looked very dorky because he insisted on carrying it in his shirt pocket. I was able to get away with keeping my StarTac in my pocket, but keeping that monstrosity in a shirt pocket is a no-no :nono:. -Jay
That's true. The Nokia 5100 series phones were everywhere. I still hate the design of that phone... good sound quality, though.
yep I too had one of those.. back in college... from at&t through the credit union plan. I had a nokia 5120 phone. It had good sound that is for sure. Just a basic phone. God forbid I would have to do without ringtones and all the fun of newer phones! :browani:
