Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Okay, nevermind. I called Motorola and they had me do a "master reset" on my phone and all is good with the world.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. The phones need to be the EXACT same model, and be running the same version of the firmware to get away with it. (and even then it doesn't always work) Since you mention differences in the phones I would not recommend trying it.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. The 2 software packages you mention are copyright protected. PST is only legally available to authorized Motorola service centers, and RSD is a commercial application. That's why you can't find them.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. I wouldn't try it. Those firmwares are for 2 different series of phones if I remember correctly. You may end up screwing up the other phone. -Jay
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. well it didn't work. couldn't get my phone to connect last night. guess something was tryin to tell me its pointless. guess i'll just have to see if i can find a place to trade in her phone and hope to find one that does what i want it to do. I attempted to do a seem edit (found two that are for exactly what i want the phone to do but i dont think i did it right) if i could get someone to walk me thru the steps of editing the seem, i think i could get it work, with my fingers crossed.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. I have 5 3i bought from Let'sTalk.com about 2 mos ago and Cingular is our brand new carrier. 2 of them just starts showing some problems. One of them working but have pretty bad static noise during conversation. One of them (my daughter's) turn on and shut down after displaying Cingular logo. She tries to do master reset to no available. My son talked to Cingular rep and he said the majority problem with the Raz 3 phone is phone card and it should be replaced. How should I handle issue because I couldn't find any contact on Let'sTalk.com about repairing/replacing? 2 out of 5 within 2 mos is pretty bad in term of quality control, statistically. Thanks Lanny
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Your warranty on the phones is 1 year from purchase, and Cingular handles it, not Let's Talk. If Let's Talk handled the warranty you'd never get anything fixed. Most people don't even get their rebates from them because of all the hoops you have to jump through to get them. Just call Cingular and if necessary they will send you replacement phones. -Jay
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Thanks Jay. We called Cingular and they will replace the phones.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Hey all, i figured out what the issue was with the phones. the original i bought (mine) was made in kuwait, while the one i bought for my friend was made in dubai. so they had some different things on them. So i traded in the dubai one, for a kuwaiti one. its works just like mine YEAH!!!!. i also figured out how to do the seem editing, so now her's is just the way i want it to be. i also learned how to re-vamp the skins. now if only i can just find some more themes instead of the regular ones. i'd be just peachy. anyhow, thanks for all the info I've found on the net, it's helped a whole lot. now i got a seriously modded out v3i.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Curious: I did a search of this thread for KRZR K1 and found nothing. I'm thinking about returning my Samsung A707 and trying the KRZR K1 but want to first read fully up on it. I want to stick with Cingular, btw. Cingular.com shows the KRZR K1 as being available but I'm not sure if my local store has it. If not, I'll probably just stay with my SE T637 for a bit longer.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. I have a problem with my V3 and I hope someone can help me out here. A few weeks ago, my phone shut down and I couldn't power it back on. Tried a reset and removing the battery and SIM card, but nothing worked. So I sent it in to Motorola, and when I received it back they said there was no problem but they did a SW Upgrade/Reflash. The problem is, the phone still doesn't work, I still can't power it on. What's the deal? I let it sit on the charger over night, still nothing. Is it time for a new battery?
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. I recently bought an unlocked v3i off of the internet, it worked fine for 2 months, then it just said no service, it still showed my service provider but said no service, the phones menus still work as they should. What can i do to solve the problem, is there a hard reset for the phone, any help would be much appreciated. Ryan.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. The first thing i would try is take the battery & SIM card out for 10 minutes, then put them back in and turn the phone on. This will usually fix problems like this. If it doesn't work let us know and we can investigate further. -Jay
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. It is possible. If the battery is no good, the phone will not work, even when plugged into the charger. -Jay
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Well i've had the phone turned off for a month or more, tried it again recently and it had the same problem. I took it to a local phone repair and they said that they had seen quite a few of the v3i with that problem and that there were unable to fix them, thought i would try online, had a problem with a mpx220 which motorola couldnt fix, went to an online forum, and got the answer and the phone fixed in days. And again thank you.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. That was the problem. I swapped mine out with a friend's and it powered right up. Thanks!
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Hi how do i see what software version i have on my razr v3,i go to settings and phone statius but all that is there is like,my tel numbers and the battery meter, also what ver. of the bootloader do i have do i need to downgrade to flash? thanks.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. You should not need to downgrade your bootloader to flash the phone on GSM models. The only cases I know of where the bootloader was downgraded was when people unlock the phones by rolling back the bootloader. (Please, nobody PM me asking how to do this - It is extremely dangerous and too easy to break your phone.) -Jay
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. HI i don't know if i'am doing something here (i don't think so) but when useing multiflashflex it will quit after it creates a inmag file it gives me an error that reads like this 21:14:40, February 11, 2007 Line: 3780 ERROR: Phone[0000]: ***Error*** Unable to connect to the Subscriber Unit. Unable to get string descriptors. File: Y:\test_dev_usb\flash\code\flashdll\PST_FP_FlashThread.cpp, i also get a error when tring to use flash backup 2.62 this gave me a white screen once but phone is ok so far this one's scary! see what i would like to do is just flash the software to this:r374_g_oe.42.oer from this: r4515_g_08.bd.74r you see a friend has a blue razr with this software on it and we can be side by side and he will have better signal than me and he also has some different menu options than i, i read that some software can offer better reception than others??? thanks.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. I haven't done any RAZR modding in quite some time as my V3 is on loan to a friend who broke hers, and she doesn't qualify for an upgrade yet. Just from looking at the titles of the firmware files I wonder if your friend's V3 is the same model V3. If it is not then you will most likely brick your phone trying to put the wrong firmware on it. I have never had any problems with MultiFlashFlex(and I've been using it for years), so if you are getting errors there must be a good reason. Please double check that the new firmware file is compatible with your phone before you proceed. -Jay
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. ok and how would i do that it looks like i have bootloader 0a.52. and s/w r4515_g_08.bd.74r its a black razr v3 unlocked bran new off ebay 3 week or so ago.. thanks again.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Exactly what model V3 do you have? The regular V3 files will start with R374. I have not found anything on an R45 series.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Hi ok the phone was bought off of ebay bran new in box, the box has japanese writing on it,the label is in english and reads motorola v3 850/900/1800/1900 type:mq4-4411g21 dj:sa2674at flex opt:t676dt ato item:sa2674a-6174 msn:e23wgx3n4z this is all the info about the phone. ok i have one more question, when i go to webaccess from the main menu and go to launch the browser it tells me that the GPRS network is not available? so whats up with that ?is this something i need cell-one to activate? thanks again.
Re:RAZR caller ID block and dirty screen I just bought a used V3 and noticed its Caller ID block has only the option of going into "Settings" and manually manipulating the incall features to "Next Call Only" or by punching in #31# prior to sending a call...cumbesome. Any mods to make it block outgoing caller ID without going through this rigomortum? Also, when I flip open the receiver, I noticed on the large screen, there's some dust behind it; enough dust that I can't read the display in bright light...is it easy to remove for a fat finger guy like me? Thanks!
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3,v3i,v3x,v3T,v3R,v3xx ) post your questions here. nevermind on the web access ..i got it had to call cell one and they just sent me an update via the phone.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here. Sounds like you have a standard V3, but the R45 series sounds odd to me. AFAIK the only firmware for the standard V3 is the R37 series. Maybe it is so new that there is no info on it in the modding forums. In any case because of this I would not recommend changing the firmware. -Jay
Re: RAZR caller ID block and dirty screen It is a pretty simple process to remove the dust. Be forewarned, this is not a permanent solution to the dust. Simply take a pin, and work it under the lower right hand corner of the inner lcd. Be careful not to scratch the lcd itself. Once you get it in there, slowly slide the pin up towards the upper hand right corner and over the top. You should then be able to peel the rest of it off. Carefully wipe the dust out. You can then press the lcd back onto the phone, and run your finger around the edge to make sure that it is sealed. This is the original place where the dust gets in, and once you break that seal, you can be sure to get more dust. I repeated this process a number of times, and the lcd stuck back on every time. You may want to consider a different kind of adhesive to keep the dust out when you put the screen back on. You can find replacement inner lcd screens at www.cnn.cn for a really good price. They are authentic Motorola parts if you were wondering.
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3,v3i,v3x,v3T,v3R,v3xx ) post your questions here. I have Razr that is 14 months old. There is no H2O damage and it hasn't been dropped. All keys but the RED OFF button have stopped working. There was no warning...just picked up the phone to use it and the keys wouldn't work. Calls come into the phone but I cannot answer the call. Any ideas on what I can do to fix or is it time for a new phone?
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3,v3i,v3x,v3T,v3R,v3xx ) post your questions here. That is a rare thing to happen, maybe your phone can be reflashed with the software and it might work again, otherwise its cheaper to just replace it. Standard V3's are only $29 if you qualify for an upgrade. Do you have insurance on it? -Jay
Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3,v3i,v3x,v3T,v3R,v3xx ) post your questions here. I have a similar thing going on. 6 month old v3i, unlocked. It's my 16 year old daughter's, so it probably has been bounced around. I can turn it on, but I can't get most of the keys working most of the time. And the red key won't turn it off. I've looked for the master reset instructions, but can't find them anywhere. I've pulled the battery and sim overnight--no change. What I would really like to do is to save the contacts and other stuff off of the phone memory for her before either resetting it, sendingit in to get repaired, or replacing it. I can't get the bluetooth turned on to use iSync, like I had it set up for, and I can't get MPT to work via the USB cable--the same old XP usb problems that everyone else reports. So, any advice? Thanks, Jim
