Are you using a wired or Bluetooth headset? Anyway, its probably due to a bad headset. I've had that happen before on bad headsets, over 100 feet from the phone, or the signal is traveling through walls or floors.

Thanks Jay. It's wired. I think it's the mic but I'm not sure. I've tried listening to mp3 with it and both earbuds sounded ok without any noise.

To Jay, or anybody else that might know. What's the network jingle option for? It's under settings > network. I'm just curious, that's the only option on the phone I can't figure out.

I've never used a wired headset with a V3. I've always used Bluetooth. If you look you can get a great deal on a H500 on Ebay, those are relatively cheap and work well with the V3.

Network Jingle??? I've never heard of that. My settings in my network menu on my V3 are :
    • New Network
    • Network Setup
      1. Band
      2. Type
      3. Speed
    • Available Networks
    • Service Tone
    • Call Drop Tone

    I don't know. It's on my v3i.
    I have:

    • new network
    • network setup
    • available networks
    • service tone
    • network jingle
    • call drop tone

I guessing it might have to do with roaming, but I don't know.

That's carrier specific, say T-Mobile, has it's own distinctive jingle....

Check out the link to the Motorola modding thread linked in my signature. What you will have to do is "seem edit" the phone, which involves uploading your phone's OS to a computer via USB cable, modifying the files w/ a hex editor, then uploading it all back to the phone. Be careful as you will void your warranty doing this, and it is possible if a mistake is made that the phone may be rendered useless.

Is it a pink one? There seems to be a rash of that going on with the pink ones the past month. Maybe there is a bad batch that got out. We have a few other members that reported the same thing with recent v3 purchases. Try exchanging it at the store if you are within the 30 days.

Just take one of the websessions already there and edit it so all of the settings are compatible with TMO, then set it to default.

You will have to manually enter all of the media net and SMS settings for internet and text msgs to work.

    voice mail/text message problem

I recently bough unlocked Motorola RAZR V3 on the e-bay. Everything works well, except one thing. Everytime I call my voice maill or receive a voice mail I get a text message that has just one symbol: @.
Does anybody know how to get rid of that?
    Thanks

Re: RAZR GSM v3 Network Connection Problem

My newly purchased Motorola V3 (blue) GSM 850/900/1800/1900 will not connect to my T-Mobile Pay as you Go account. The phone is made in UK and sold to me by a Brooklyn online merchant advertised as "unlocked." I am in Massachusetts, USA. Previously, with unlocked phones I have just popped my SIM in and found my Network. This V3 phone searches and gives an "Emergency Only Calls" indication. T-Mobile says it is an unsupported device and they cannot help. Then, I went over to Cingular (this BoTW is the ONLY Network the "shows" when you do a Network Search) and the Cingular prepaid SIM faired no better. The phone will not connect to the network. The Motorola (800) Customer Service number in the manual was no help. I was told by them the phone was made for Europe and will not work in USA??? What do I do? Send it back to the merchant (I like the phone 'cept it doesn't work!) or throw it in the river? Can it be fixed somehow to connect, preferably to my T-Mobile account?

Re: RAZR GSM v3 Network Connection Problem

If you are getting "Emergency Only" then the phone cannot find its home network. I am thinking that there is something wrong with the internal software settings, but I'm not sure exactly what. If you have the capability I would have the TMO software installed on the phone. This should correct everything. The easiest thing though is return the phone to the seller if you can.

Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here.

*I have a black V3 with Cingular service*

While talking on my RAZR a week ago, it dropped my call and displayed that it had no service. I immediately thought that cingular was having trouble with our local tower, so I just laid it to the side and really didn't think twice about it. An hour later, I still had no service, which was very unusual, so I popped out my sim card and stuck it in another phone I had lying around. Surprise, I had service.

I called cingular and it turns out my warranty had ran out a mere 2 days prior so it would cost me $130 and my broken phone to get a replacement. I bought a new antenna and installed it, but still no service. Everything else is fine. It powers on, reads my sim card. Does anyone have any ideas what I could do to fix this?

    Thanks!

Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here.

A friend of mine has a V3i, and I am unfamiliar with this. She says she can get MP3's on the phone, but doesn't know how to use them as ringtones. Can anyone direct me on how to use a stored MP3 as a ringtone?

On my RAZR, I have 30 second clips stored in the audio folder and can pick these in my styles detail/calls option, and the ringtone plays. Is this the same for the v3i? Are the MP3's in the audio folder, and you can just select it in your ringer detail (i.e. soft, hard)? Or is it something different? Or can you still, with this model, not select a full MP3 song for a ringtone?

    Thanks ;)

Shizam, in order to use as an mp3 as a ringtone you first have to save it to the phone, until then, she will not see an option to apply as ringtone.

Yeah she has saved them into the phone with the cable, etc. She isn't sure why she cant set them as ringtones. I know with my RAZR...It won't play an MP3 quality song as an ringtone...too big. I have to use Melody studio to cut the bitrate to like 60 kb/sec....as opposed to the 192 or 158 kb/sec.

So....on the v3i, they are stored the same way? In the audio folder, then you just select it as a ringtone in the settings?

I have searched the threads and havn't found anything useful to my problem yet, so maybe someone can help me.

I recently purchased a Moto Razr V3m from sprint. I also have the Motorola Mobile Phone Tools. I have the latest update version of the mobile phone tools. My problem is that I cannot get the mobile phone tools to recognize my phone, even if I manually choose what kind of phone it is (V3m). Is this because of sprints overpriced "Online Music Store? Is there something else I need to do? Any help is greatly appreciated. :loony:

Re: RAZR ( GSM versions v3 & v3i ) post your questions here.

I purchased 4 razr V3 from cingular last week. Yesterday I noticed a faint clicking or popping sound when I'm talking to someone over the phone. The person on the other line cannot hear these sounds. I called my land line and tried to listen for the sound on that end but could not detect it but once I started listening to the razr end I heard it. Its not a constant sound, if I listen for it I can hear it maybe 6 times a minute. I tried 2 other razrs that I bought and can still hear these noises. Anyone have any idea what these noises are?

I put the sim card into my old nokia and checked for the noise. I did not detect those particular clicks or pops on the nokia so I'm assuming it is the razrs. Anyone else have this problem or know of any solutions to it? Thanks

My range of hearing is a bit off center. I can hear higher pitched sounds than most people, but I can't hear low. The only odd sounds I notice from my V3 is a slight hum while the keypad is lit.
