SOUTH U.S. -- rare phone user needs help

    I've used Sprint and no longer have a contract for many years. I have an old phone and would like a new one. I rarely use the phone , I direct connect mostly, so I only have a 200 min plan. I would like to incorporate texting but with a new phone I would have to get an expensive plan with 4G (which we don't have in this area). Any suggestions as to the least expensive way to do this?

    Are you looking to get smartphone? If so you may want to look into Boost Mobile. If not you may want to check on eBay to find a phone that will not change your plan or lock you into a contact.

    You should keep in mind that Sprint will be shutting down their iDEN network in 2013. If you use DirectConnect, you'll have to switch to what they're replacing it with. From your usage, you'd probably do better with a prepaid option like Boost.
