I don't have many friends that are tech savvy...and, they can't really help me out with the current question I have...

Also, I'm probably posting this in the wrong under the wrong topic....Haha

So, I recently got a Blackberry Pearl from a friend that no longer has use for it. It's from Alltel...but, the thing is...where I live, we seriously have NO service!

I work in Chicago during the summer and I travel quite a bit..but, not enough to have a contract phone. I only use Tracfone or something like that to keep a phone. Lets be honest, ALL of their phones pretty much suck! So, my question is; is there any way I can turn the Blackberry Pearl into a Tracfone or any kind of prepaid phone?! :headscrat

I REALLY need help, guys! :D

You can activate the Alltel Blackberry on PagePlus service. You will only be able to make calls and text with it however. Blackberries have to have special files called service books in order to use the email feature or a social media application.

PagePlus runs on the Verizon network so coverage would be good. If you are just looking for a nicer phone to use with just voice and text, you should be fine.

TracPhone uses proprietary firmware. This means you can only use handsets that they have had specially modified to use with their service. You can only use their handsets.
