I noted several strong recommendations against Qwest but also several recommendations FOR Sprint. Am I mistaken that Qwest uses the Sprint network for its service? If so, then how could Qwest service be any worse that Sprint? THIS is confusing!!!!
Qwest is a horrible company, just believe me and other Qwest customers when we say that . Sprint is very good in the Prescott Area, so is T-Mobile and Cingular. Yes, Qwest has good coverage, but save yourself the torture and get Sprint.
Oh there's just a number of people on here who think Qwest is bad mainly because of their landline division. For wireless Qwest does use Sprint and they have the same coverage. I don't see any problems with using Qwest wireless but then again Sprint generally has the better offerings and phones.
Not anymore. They were first out with the cdma version of the Razr, the Slider Remix is coming on Dec. 8, and all three varieties of PDA phones are available now. Here is a link to the current selection: http://www.alltel.com/phones/index.html
Yes, Qwest has its plusses and minuses. Let's ignore the network for a minute... -Bad reputation from being the only wireline in town. Hate Qwest? try to deal with SBC (Ohio)! -Bad reputation for their old PCS network which was inferior to almost everybody else. -Good reputation: they offer wireless to landline plans not available elsewhere, -They offer 'bundles' with their other services. -They offer plan packages that may be better than Sprint's own. -They have local stores where Sprint doesn't. -They often have phones other CDMA carriers don't. My biggest envy was the color v60x! -Their customer service people are 'westerners'. I'm sorry, but next to Abu in AT&T's customer service in India, I can't deal with the accent of some (Sprint) agents who are based in the east and this is the first job they got 'off the boat'.
Larry, what did you think of Qwest before they sold their customers to Sprint and are now dealing through Sprint??? What did you think of NEXTEL before they got TOGETHER with Sprint? Try to deal with Qwest, they are a pain in the butt. I have personal experience with their landline divisions and friends and one family members have had bad stories to share about their wireless division. If someone is interested in Qwest, I send them directly to Sprint.
Go back and read posts 7, 13, 25 - 30. We were all making some comparisons between alternative providers and I was simply updating a statement from azcellphonejunkie. It was all relevant because the original poster may not have considered some choices for Northern Arizona other than Qwest and Verizon.
In my native town, Qwest is the main landline carrier. I also purchased wireless service through them. Of the ~12 CS calls I've placed for wireless questions, I have only had 1 rude rep. Surprisingly, most have tried their best and I have appreciated the efforts. I really have no complaints. For the landline, they have also been nice, offering free DSL for 2mos, etc. The nice people have been in call centers in AZ and ID, while the ones in Denver have been less 'kind' or helpful. The wireless reps in AZ & ID have been far more knowledgable and willing to help than any rep from past experiences with Sprint, MWW and Verizon. The coverage I've experienced with Qwest wireless has been ok. When it's on the home network, it is great. When it is roaming, it is great! The only issues are switching from 'home' to 'roam', where calls can drop or stay with the home networks poor signal before switching to a strong roaming signal. I recently purchased Alltel service, as the rural coverage is very good for me. And, I kept the Qwest. The westerners cs reps have been very nice, for the most part, and the coverage isn't bad at all, just the pcs to cdma switching issues. Good luck in your search for the best carrier for your needs!
