I have a free full-version copy of Xingtone software to give away. It helps you make ringtones from your CDs and music files. I need someone to who will give it a try to be sure it works as stated and post a brief review. Check it out here: Xingtone Test your phone here It works on Cingular, Sprint PCS & T-Mobile. If you want the copy, just post here saying so by end of day Friday (7/22). I need someone who is going to use it right away. At the end of this week I will randomly pick someone. You'll have to give me the phone number and then you will be able to download a free full version copy of the software. Post in this thread if you want to be in the drawing for a copy of Xingtone. Joe
Well, I've got to tell you, Xingtone is pretty sweet. It took about 40 minutes to download but I was using a dialup ISP so it would probably take about 2 minutes with DSL or a cable modem. You need to have text messaging and WAP access on your handset and, as JFB said, you must have one of the following providers... Cingular, Sprint PCS or T-Mobile. The user interface is simple. You load tracks from CD or from MP3 or other audio files on your PC. The instructions say that loading them from CD or sounds you record yourself are better ringtones because they are not compressed. I didn't have a chance to test this out since I was using tracks straight from CD. Once you get going it's pretty easy. The controls are straighforward. You pick the file you want to load and it displays the graphic representation of the sound waves. You then use the mouse to select the section of the file you want to use as a ringtone and select a little razor blade icon to cut it, then you can fine tune your selection using the fade-in, fade-out, lower volume and higher volume controls. Then you name the ringtone and hit the send button. In about 20-30 seconds you receive a text message with a WAP link which allows you to download the ringtone. After I had done a couple I could go from raw CD track to ringtone playing on my phone in about 5 minutes and the ringtones sound as good if not better than those you could download direct from your carrier. I have a problem paying for ringtones... especially since I know how easy it can be to create your own. If you like downloading ringtones I would purchase Xingtone and just make your own because it's much more fun. Definitly cool software.
Wow, sound's like a good program to use. do you have to download it via WAP or can you transfer the tones via a usb cable?
You have to download the program to your PCU but the ringtones are transferred to your handset via a WAP address sent to your phone in a text message. Looks like right now you have to have WAP in order to use it.
Thank you for the quick reply & excellent write up on the program, I don't use the mMode on my phone, usually do things thru MPT, but it seems simple enough to use this program & download it pretty quickly.
Yes, I was surprised at how fast it was, literally 20-30 seconds from upload to ringtone on your phone.
