Wirelessly posted (Palm 700p: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D052; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320) I have a few questions after resigning our contract for another 2 years. We added two lines to our plan and upped the minutes to the 3000 FS plan. Questions: 1. My dad bought a E815 and I had previously bought a E815 in January of this year. Since I went to the store and used my old E815, can I get new contract pricing on a Motorola Q since we are still within our trial period and I didn't get a new phone when we resigned the contract? If not, is there any way for me to avoid paying full price for the Q? 2. If I can't do the above, does anyone know if Verizon allows you to use a Sprint Treo 700p on Verizon's network? If so, how do I have them activate it? 3. Can I activate the phone online? If so, what part of the website do I do this at? Thanks in advance for anyone's help.
Hey Eric, So you are asking as to whether or not you can get new pricing on a Q but you signed your contract in January??? I'm not sure I completely understand your question, Eric...Sorry. 3. YOu can activate/change ESN on phones online. Log into my account and somewhere there's a 'change phone' thing off one of the main tabs in your myaccount. Hope this helps.
This is true, but the ESN Changer is utterly USELESS, even with switching between EVDO to EVDO, & EVDO to Non-EVDO phones!!! I know of EVDO to EVDO not working on the ESN changer as this morning It wouldn't successfully let me switch from my V3c to my new Treo 700p!!! Bunch of hooey I tell you!!!
Oh yeah, that is a problem with the ESN changer; I wonder if they will ever fix that. But let's not complain, Sprint, for example, doesn't even have that feature. I didn't mention this problem because I figured Eric was gonna be changing back and forth between his E815; both EVDO phones.
I know that you can have trouble activating EVDo phones online in fact a VZW rep told me it cant be done.
Eric, I'm not sure about the Q question, but as far as using a Sprint Treo 700p on Verizon, I don't think it's allowed anymore. I've read that they are cracking down on activating non-Verizon phones. As far as the activation goes, I would call them to do it. I don't think the site will work out that well. It is a bit tempermental, as others have said. By the way, if you do get a Q, I think you will like it a lot. I know I do!!:browani:
Hey Andy. Let me clarify my original post. My family and I used to have the FS 1000 plan (AC1). We then decided to upgrade to the new FS 3000 plan (AC2). My mom and sister kept their LG VX8000 phones and numbers. My dad bought a new E815 for himself (he received a new number). I used my old E815 that I had in my drawer [(I bought it on a different single line account that I cancelled in March) (and I too received a new number)]. I have decided that I like having a PDA and I would like to have the Q. Will I be able to go back into a Verizon store and get the Q for my line of the FS plan (I am on the fourth line) at a new 2 year contract price if we resign the contract for another two years (since I did not receive a discounted device when we resigned the contract)? By the way, we are already passed the trial period (is this a problem?). I think the following applies to me (someone correct me if I am wrong) from what I have read on the Un-Official Verizon Wireless FAQs thread on HowardForums. Early Upgrade: "Customers that have had not received a handset discount in the past year and for the past three months have been on a $59.99 plan or higher are eligible for two year promo pricing with a two year contract renewal." Like I already stated, I used my E815 that I bought in January (on a different account that has since been cancelled), and we used to be on a $70.99/month + $9.99/month = $79.99 plan since January of 2005 and now we upgraded to the FS 3000 plan (with two additional lines that were added for my dad and I). So if I understand the above quote from the FAQ thread on HoFo, then if we resign for another two years, I can get the 2 year price on the Q. Correct? Or am I out of luck and have to buy the Q for retail? If I have to buy it for full price, should I buy it at a Verizon store or a Best Buy or Circuit City store? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks in advance for anyone's help. Erik
he got the E815 in January and he recently extended his contract without getting a new phone.....he wants to know if, since he's still within the trial period for the extension could he remove the extension and rextend with an upgrade.... you should be able to.......ummmm.........with the Sprint phone to Verizon thing.....that should work too.....Verizon won't try to cripple your service only to piss you off and make you leave......they should let you activate that phone but you would need to call Verizon to update the ESN on the account because apparently there is something wrong with that tool online its probably just as easy to call them too cuz then they can walk you threough the service menu to update the phone number and the MSID
Thanks Mike. I am glad that I have the Q. I like the phone a lot. Thanks for your response. I actually canceled my Verizon line in March (I had it from January of this year to mid March of this year). I then got on my family's share plan and kept my old phone that I bought in January of this year. We had to renew our contract for two years in order for me to get two year pricing on the Q. All is now well.
