I finally got WAP to work but I'm still a little tentative about using it because I'm not sure how it exactly works. Does it take minutes away from my airtime or do I have to pay separate by the minute?

Also, does anyone know a good link for sports scores for wml because ESPN.com doesn't seem to work.

all it does is take off your minutes, doesn't charge you at all........... i use http://wap.oa.yahoo.com for everything.......... sports, weather, etc.

Thanks Tdog, but http://wap.movietickets.com didn't work with me phone (lg vx 4400 with free wap via waptunnel) I would like to try EDG if you could point me in the direction of the IP address and port number.

193.095.167.178 Put the same number in all the links below.
    Link2-ip1
    Link2-ip2
    Link2-ip3

Port settings use 9203 (secure) Put the same port number in all the links below.
    Link2-port1
    Link2-port2
    Link2-port3

I currently have VZW web info under Link1, but I will cancel that next billing period. My site is better and easier to use...I use yahoo for weather, email, etc. plus I have games. news, plus google.

I don't use waptunnel, I built a quick home page on tagtag.com...very easy, step by step. Add links to the site I suggested...works great on the 4400.

Can you recommend any other good links to put on a site?

    mmm.ebay.co.uk (ebay)
    www.google.com/wml (Google)
    www.42637.com (games)
    wap.movietickets.com (movies)
    mobile.yahoo.com/weather (weather)
    wap.portel.it/speed.isp (speed test)

Thats what I have on my site so far... with the google, you can gt to any URL, any site, etc. With Yahoo, same thing but you can check yahoo mail if you have an account. Yahoo will also forward a notice to your phone upon receipt of an email..(if you dont want to check all the time).

Do a search on Google for WAP sites...

Not sure if this is a dumb question or not, but is this "legal"?

Does doing this circumvent my agreement with Verizon or I'm just using free WAP access provided by someone else?

I just want to understand what I'm doing here.

    I can't get http://www.42637.com to work.

I add it to my tagtag home page, but when I try to access it, I get a message
"the request is not understood 400 Bad Request"

    I'm using the EDG portal.

    Thanks

Not sure why it would not work, do you have it on Port 9203? if the other sites work, maybe that site is temporarily down...
I notice that sometimes I have to resend (re-click) the link a couple times...to make it take..??

    good luck.

Regarding you rearlier question about circumventing the VZW agreement..there are a couple threads that I remember reading that say no...but I can't find the damn link...they were on the Verizon FAQ on the Howard Forums.....or maybe on this forum...I did read it though.. I also tried to find a msg in a thread that I read last night about a guy who called VZW customer service as a "potential" customer, just asking about the Free WAP on their phones...and the tech said basically it is ok, but there will not be any tech support and it was not illegal to do so...maybe do a search on both forums again, but i am comfortable with their answers.

Yes, port is 9203. I'll try again tomorrow, I guess.

Also, it's a bit worrysome that when you go onto the wireless web with your free portal, it still says that you'll be charged. I guess as long as you are using your own link ips, you won't be, right?

That hard coded page is in there to tell you that you are using your plan minutes, it does not pertain to the web server charges as far as i can research... there is no way around using your plan munites, peak or unlimited nights, etc....it just means you will be using them according to your plan.

there are a bunch of guys here that have been using the web Wap portal without the cost of the $4.95 / mnth service charge...I am ready to cancel mine...I have a free two month trail...

    later.

I added http://www.42637.com to my tagtag page.

Can't get it working either on waptunnel or edg.

when you press end and the next time you go back into WAP, it takes you to the page you were last at. How do you get back to your main page?

Tdog. Still can't get 42637.com to work.

I get 6397.com (news) and 776787.com (sports) to work just fine.

I'm using the EDG portal on port 9203.

    Man...tough luck??

I just got on there again....

Went to Verizon, Changed service from National Single Rate to Americas Choice...400 minutes, unltd n/w, 1000 m/m....$40/mth.

I keep going over the 150 minutes I had....and didnt have night/wkend at all....

So after re-programming the phone for AC plan, I just wanted to make sure I could still use free-wap...yup..no problem...I noticed that they were giving me web access - (normally $4.99 mth) Free...wasnt on my acct....but I was on their wap site all month???? duh....

So now I can still access my home wap page and all the links, including the 42637...using EDG/9203, sorry brother, don't know what to tell you?

    Good luck...
    T.

Thanks. Maybe I have to clear the cache or something.

Either way, not that big a deal. I can go to worddial.com and then access it from the games link.

On TagTag, what exactly do you put in the URL to hit a particular theater on wap.movietickets.com?

I can hit the site that I created at TagTag, but when I try to hit one of the links, I get a 'connection reset' message with the URL that I tried to hit.

Also, what do you use for a weather site? Please provide a wap URL for a particular city, e.g. MSP.

    Thanks!

    TDog,

I found your TagTag site and was able to hit MovieTickets.com, weather, etc. Can you provide me with the urls that you typed into the wml writing interface? Try out tagtag.com/llskip. The upper level links work, but I can't get the actual links to any sites to work.

    Thanks,

    Liquid
