Question about possible new contract and plan

I am on a family plan under my father's name now and I am want to get my own plan seperate but would like to keep my number is there any way I can do this? I want to get it under my name and get a new plan with a new phone. I dont want to have to go through the whole thing of tracking everyone down to give a new number to/
