Hello I just signed up for alltel about 2 weeks ago and my plan is the $49.99 national freedom plan. 750 minutes with 5 my circle. Anyway I want to add another line to it and I understand that I have to pay $20 for it but my question is, Can I use a prepay phone? Or does it have to be a cell phone for the additional line? Thanks.

If your wanting to add a second line to that plan then yes it would be 49.99 plus 20.00 for the added line, plus fees and taxes. I would first up highly suggest you just upgrade to the Family National 59.99 (900 mins I believe). You would also get 10 My Circle numbers. It would be the same price roughly 49.99 + 20.00 = 69.99 or 59.99 + 9.99 = 69.98. Now if your wanting to use a Pre Paid Alltel CDMA E911 capable phone as your equipment for the added line, then yes you can do that. As of right now, and I know in the past they have no cared, you are allowed to use any Alltel U Prepaid CDMA phone on a Post Paid account. I know a lot of people who do that if they need to replace a broken phone. You still have to pay the activation fee, but there is no contract for the new line. I hope this info helps.

Those have lock codes so you have to come up with some artistic way to call regarding the prepaid plan first and get the lock code. The you can go on and put it on a post paid account.

get the U Prepaid ones at the Alltel stores, the ones at Wal Mart are the phone in the box series that replaced Alltel's Simple Freedom customers that they got when Simple Freedom went away.
