I non tech friend of mine picked up an HTC Droid Incredible 2, brand new, from Verizon. Looks like a very good phone. It runs an older version of Android, but I don't see that as a problem. However, I have come across many +/- comments on its cellular reception (almost thought I was reading about an old ATT iPhone 4, some were so bad): RF bad, holding phone a killer, etc Kept reading about software/firmware fixes coming (sounds familiar?). But it is not clear what happened. So, my question: I won't be in a position to judge for myself, but given the 14 day Verizon trial, does anyone have experience, direct or otherwise, on how bad or good the RF reception or antenna is on the Droid Incredible 2? Thanks in advance, I like to offer some advice to them. VF
I am not sure if you are going to get a reply any time soon soon, so I figured I would take a shot at and asked a fellow "geek" who had the Dinc2 amongst his many other devices. This is basically what he said: "Tell him, it"s a great phone but the RF isn't the best. It isn't the worst either. Might lack a little in very weak areas, but you may never notice any issues either". Other than the it is rated on Phonescoop at 4.63 which is higher higher than your IPhone4S and my Atrix 4G.
I am not sure how the Droid Incredible 2 is for reception. If your friend is going to be in any weak areas, then I would stick with Motorola. I have had various phones on Verizon during the past 6+ years, and Motorola has always been the best in getting reception (at least from my personal experience).
Thanks for the comments. I discovered a few other people with the Incredible 2, and they said it was doing fine for them The person who purchased it, she would get very frustrated with reception issue, but is not tech enough or at all, to understand RF conditions that may cause it. So I didn't wish her to have any further handicap in the antenna area. For now, it will be a keeper.
