Excuse me? This is Verizon's insurance, it isn't like they're contracting another company. I am paying Verizon.

Thank you so much for putting up with me and all my nonsense!

I got all the tools from here: http://www.motov3m.com/tiki-index.php?page=SEEM

To make a backup of my phone (as it is right now... before seem editing...) what do I have to do? 2742 for "load" and 0000 for "bytes" click "load" and then "save to file" ?

So I take it your p2k seem is showing connected? If yes, type 2742 in the Load seem box, leave the record as 1, then go up to bytes box, type 0000. Once you have those entered, you can hit Load From Phone. This loads all the 2742 seems, (where most your seems you are going to change, reside). At the botto, you can hit Save to File, save it whereever u want, and now u have that seem backed up. Do that any time u are chnaging values in a seem u have not yet worked in

Is the policy underwritten by Verizon? If so, I stand corrected and let your conscience be your guide... :)

I really don't know, and now you have me worrying... I assure you - though I don't know why exactly I feel like I should have to - that I am not a person wanting to screw any other person over, truthfully.

I know that I pay Verizon and I know that I have a phone with features that are locked and that - even if I wanted to - I cannot pay Verizon to have back. I don't like that.

Anyway, I did it and nothing went wrong... my phone still works and it was all very simple. Thank you all very much, especially you Cincy, thanks a lot! I am sorry for all the questions!

Just FYI most carriers use 3rd party insurance for the phone coverage, just like the roadside assistance.

Verizon does contract out through two insurance companies. You pay VZW and they pay the insurance company.

If you have to turn yours in and use your insurance, VZW will tell to contact one of the insurance companies and not VZW.

Did this 4 times on 3 different phones.

If you look at your bill, ours is the Detail Billing, it says "WPP Insurance - Ausrion".

Hey, does anyone here know how to make ringtones from mp3 files? I did a little research and apparently the mp3 has got to be on the phone's internal memory or whatever it's called and not the flash card or whatever. I am assuming that this means I will have to use a program like BitPim? Can someone walk me through this? I know how to trim files and all that, so making a 28 second CBR mp3 would be no problem.

You can crop and trim them in MPT if you like. Once you connect to MPT, go to Multimedia Studio, then go File Transfer studio. You can then send your mp3 ringtones to the audio folder on your phone's memory, and voila! You cant use BitPim b/c Verizon has blocked us from accessing the audio folder on the phone. You are right about the ringtones, they must be on the phones memory, not the microSD card. Same thing applies to pictures used as picture id's. You do have MPT working right? You would have had to do the seem edit described on mark.cdmaforums.com in order to change your phone id tag from V3m to V3mM.

MPT costs money, and I really don't have the money to spend right now, that's why I asked about BitPim. :(

Yea BitPim wont let you do it. MPT can be purchased for less than $10 on ebay if that helps. If not, I think you are outta luck for now

I have the Verizon V3c and am trying to hack it for Bluetooth File Transfer. When I try to start Motorola Software Update I am told that it requires IE5.5 or greater. I am running the 128 bit version of IE6SP2. What is the problem?

Hey. new to this board, not new to seems. I cant seem to find the seem to allow longer video durations. Also, are there any other seems for the external display; remove date/time or even change to an analog? i doubt the latter.

Yes, i have the V3m. I have gone through all of the seems I could find, and the only things i really wanted was to change the external display from that oragne, give a vibrate & ring, and allow longer videos. the videos is all i havent done yet.

Yea, you can change the orange display. So u changed it to show the wallpaper instead of orange? As for vibe & ring, it is only vibe THEN ring, so u got that one? Did u do the Motorola ring style while doing the vibe then ring? Where it gives you Loud/Soft/Vibe/Vibe then Ring/Silent profiles....rather than the Master Voulme, Alarm Only, etc.

As for videos, it isnt a seem edit. You need to change a .ini file to change the duration value from 15 seconds to 240 seconds (although it results in 4:55 of recording ;))

Here is the post for the walkthru I created:

Yes, i changed to view wallpaper on the external display. yay. and i changed to do the vib then ring and the whole profile, but if i have the flip open and use the side buttons, it still gives me the old choices, how do i get rid of that? ill check that ini file thing now. thanks!

When u were in the seem 2742 changing the vibe then ring, and the moto ui ring style, u should have done the following:

Offset 7B Bit 3 - Vibrate THEN Ring part1 - Uncheck to enable
Offset 7B Bit 4 - Vibrate THEN Ring part2 - Check to enable
With Bit 3 & 4 set this way, you will have Vibrate THEN Ring available as a ring style
Offset 7B Bit 2 - Moto UI Style Ring Control Part 1 - Uncheck to enable
Offset 7B Bit 7 - Moto UI Style Ring Control Part 2 - Check to enable
With Bit 2 & 7 set this way, you will have volume 1-7 like the normal Moto UI instead of Low thru High

If you do that, and restart the phone, there should be no more traces of the verizon ring style menus.

ok, i did that and it gives me the 1-7 update and not the old alarm, vibrate, loud. how come i cant change from ring, loud, soft, vib and ring with the flip opened with the side buttons?

on a side note, what does UI stand for?

With it open, u can only change the volume. Flip the phone closed, and hold the volume button for a second or two, ad it will bring up the ring style menus. Or u can go the long way and go thru settings->sounds->ring styles, etc and change it that way. UI stands for User Interface.

Set it as a v3cm. Then for Comm Port, click Browse and look for Motorola USB Modem listed under Avialable Ports. Select it, then hit OK. Then OK at the settings screen. Go into View-> View FileSystem. Then in the left window pane, clikc the File System icon.

ok, final update. all mods completed. had to use P2KCommander.

Just a few questions to see if things are good. On the video duration, the phone still says 5 seconds 10, 15, but records for rhe full 4:55. second, the ring settings are kinda messed up. The icons all all off, and i still cant get to vib then ring with the flip opened. and when its on loud, it shows the alarm only icon.

ill have to mess around and see what i like. but thanks just the same! :)

Yea, it still will say the stock durations, but will go past them. As for ring styles, when the flip is open, u will only get 1-7 and then vibe and silent. Like i said, u need to do it with the flip CLOSED. Then u will be able to cycle thru. If things appear messed up, load the seems back up and double check that u did them corrctly. They are slighlty confusing because some u have to turn ON, and some u have to turn OFF for things to be activated. You should have check 2 to ON that were originally OFF, and you should have had to check 2 to OFF, that were originally ON. Lastly, as for the ring style indicator, there will be a bar across the lcd screen when the ring style is ANYTHING BUT loud. This didnt change, it is how it was on the Verizon ring styles. If u had it on anything BUT Master vol, it would show a green status bar across the screen.
