Proposed tower in my area

The decision mentions some claims that the parent property is not in compliance with local zoning regulations. It's possible that new permits (for the tower) can be held up because of unrelated issues with the property.


This was an interesting bit from the decision:

"The need for a facility offering coverage in this part of Litchfield was well established by testimony and correspondence referring to several accidents at which the timely availability of proper treatment, potentially life saving in at least one case, was hindered by the lack of existing cell phone service."

NIMBYs kill?

 

I've seen sites get approved here in So. Cal but for whatever reason don't get built for up to 2 years later!

 

a lot of times it's internal where they re-think their build plan and look at what is out there and reassess what they want to build and what they can "land bank"

 

Nextel sent a lawyer to all of Dalton townships zoning board meetings to make sure they still had approval to build a site here in Twin Lake. They did this for 3 years before building the site. I drove by the construction site one day and there was the tower, panels, hut and all "poof" in one day. The sites was "on air" almost immediately. I drive this road at least twice every day, knew exactly where the site was to be built and had been looking for it. It seriously just "popped up one day", and was running off of generators for about two weeks. Microwave was used for backhaul until Verizon decided to run T1's to the site.

 

That is bizarre.
