I have a v60c from Qwest and I've heard conflicting things about whether it can be used on Verizon. Can someone give me feedback on this. I've contacted Motorola and Verizon and they give me different answers. How about re-flashing the phone......does anyone know how to do that? Thanks

It really all depends if there is a sec. on the programming.

    press 74663# menu menu

if it does not ask for a program lock code............there should be no problem

someone told me that the software is not compatible between the networks even though they use the same tri-band frequencies.....does that make sense?

it is all in the settings.................I think..........not unless they hold the esn in thier systems. Try out that programming sequence...............then if that works take it to the next step.

Most Carriers program the esn in the database, take for instance if Cingular purshased that model from Nokia they will add that esn to their database before they ship out the phones to the Cingular stores, if that esn was not added to the database, when you try to add it to the system it will tell you it does not reconize that esn, I don't know if every carrier system is like that, but I do know that Cingular's is.

Another thing to think about is the fact that some providers use a software version that locks the phone into their network, or doesn't allow the phone to roam on another carrier. I know alot of Alltel phones have software that only allow the phone to work on a B-side sid. If you take the phone over to Verizon, say for example, and Verizon is an A-side carrier, you'll have to get the phone flashed with Verizon software version in order for it to work

    In summary,

    1. Programming the handset is the easy part but the 1st step.

    2. The phone will have to be re-flashed. This could meet some resistance from Verizon but more than likely not a problem. I'm assuming of course lock codes are not an issue.

    3. ESN will need to be loaded on the Verizon network. Again, you could run into problems but I've done it before especially if you sound like you know what your talking about. The key here is to get to a technical support person or someone who has access to the switch.

    Good Luck!
