    Hi!
I'm new so I might be in the wrong area. Any ideas or help will be appreciated. Last year I purchased a Nokia 3587i to replace my broken Nokia phone. I bought it NEW from a dealer on ebay (no longer a seller). The phone was great! Now I have upgraded my phone to something else and I still have the 3587i. My niece has one exactly like mine and lost it recently in a car accident. I gave it to her to replace until her contract expires, but now Alltel says they can program it. They did it just a year ago. Evidently the phone reads "Simple Freedom" when it is turned on, but I never used Simple Freedom. Does anyone have the codes for activation or any ideas on what to do??? It seems like a simple thing to answer, especially when Alltel programmed it just a year ago. What do you all think??

simple freedom is a prepay service sold by walmart(i believe) using the alltel network i dont know how you had that programmed before but it wont work properly on the network for a post pay or contract line, reason being there are different roaming territories based on prepay or post pay plans. this is confusing but that is why i am an alltel employee and we get these all the time. buyer beware with buying phones over ebay!!!

The only chance you have to use the handset on Alltel's network is to hard flash it (reprogram using a computer and data cable) with Alltel's Nokia 3587i software. Alltel sales offices will not do this so your only chance would be an authorized dealer who has the Alltel version of the 3587i software... if there are any.

    Good luck.

The Simple Freedom phones are MSL-locked. When Alltel programmed it for you, the first time, they were probably able to use the (one-time-only) SPC code. For any subsequent programming, you would have to know the MSL code, and reset it to 000000. Simple Freedom is either unwilling, or unable, to give you the code. You would need to find a CDMA shop, with the Nokia software, to read or change the MSL.

I have heard that if you go to www.simplefreedom.net and go through the on-line activation process, that the programming instructions will give you the 6-digit MSL code (not telling you what it is, of course). By the time you get that far into the process, however, the line may be active with Simple Freedom. They do give you 120 free prepaid minutes, when you do that online activation.
