Well I was proposed with a great idea but not sure if I want to or not. In a nut shell an up and coming internet company specilizes in high speed wireless internet. I mean that they have an antenna placement and there is a reciever on the homes and then they wirelessly use the internet that way.

Well the owner of this company was talking to me and he said that he would like to place a tower on my property or even on my roof to provide this in a new area. Well I do know he has one on his roof and to be honest it is not an eye sore at all. The reason he wants to be on my home is because I have a great location that would serve alot of people.

The great thing about this is I would be able to recieve the internet for free and a few other perks as well. I would be recieving about 10mb on the network and they are going to just get faster he is saying. So would this be a good thing for me to do, or could it bite me in the butt in ways I dont know of yet?

The owner is a great family friend and I know would not do anything but still!

    Thanks

sounds like a good idea to me. I can' think of anything that would come back to bite you unless you sign some sort of contract. If that is the case I would have a lawyer examine it thoroughly

I agree with AJE Ryan. If you are really interested in this, I personally would get a lawyer to make an agreement for you to give to the wireless internet company to sign. So if something goes wrong with the installation, or they want to add more panels, etc. etc., they would need your permission first. Of course, I always think of the worst case scenario but you would at least be covered in case something goes drastically wrong. It never hurts to be prepared.

Any HOA or other jurisdictional restrictions that you need to be cognizant of?

Personally, I would want more than that. I assume if he is outlaying the capital to expand his network, he sees a significant growth opportunity. You would be doing him a MAJOR favor by giving him a place for his antenna site for the monthly cost of a piece of the circuit that he would be getting anyways to support the network. Assume it is 20%-40$ less than he will charge as a monthly rate to consumers.
