Anyone have suggestions for a prepaid service that provides text messaging to Denmark? SMS's would be sent both to and from the US and Denmark. It appears none of the CDMA carriers offer texting to Denmark and TMobile wants $0.35 for each, is there anything cheaper out there or is this it?
Where did you hea the tmobile charges $0.35.? AFAIK, tmobile charges $0.10 for all sms...and that includes international. That's all I use my tmobile payg for. I have already sent 4 today.
Tmobile is .10 to send International SMS. i've sent SMS to the UK and Nigeria for ten cents apiece... Tmobile's international SMS rates beat my postpaid Verizon out of the water.
That's on the prepay? I could've sworn on the TMobile pay as you go page it said $.35ea, maybe I was looking at something else.
This is what I read Text Messaging $0.10 to send / $0.05 to receive in the US and Canada; $0.35 to send and $0.05 to receive everywhere else from this page Unsupported Browser If that's the cheapest anyone offers it then that's what it is, but I can't see why it's so much more to SMS Denmark than Canada.
I believe that's the roaming rate (outside US & Canada). I use T-Mobile prepaid for international SMS all the time and I'm only paying $.10 to send. On a side note, the list of other countries where T-Mo ToGo can roam is very short — Mexico is the only one I know about for sure.
The phone will only be used in the US, for now. Anyone know what the ATT GoPhone pricing is? The ATT.com site is pretty vague on prepaid details. I've got a few Cingular branded phones, though unlocking them so I can use it on TMobile is a possibility.
Well I poked around some ATT store (In cognito I might add) and the GoPhone international SMS rate is $0.05ea sent and received. So I picked up a new SIM and card and was on my way for $40.
Nice to know that there aren't any pricing differences between prepaid and postpaid for AT&T. Are you on the pay as you go plan? I'm thinking that Pay as you go has a different (and cheaper) rate versus Pick your plan.
Wow, $0.05 per SMS is pretty cheap. Why was everyone then screaming about $0.15 and $0.20 in this thread? http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/wireless-news/64786-sprint-nextel-ups-sms-fees-again.html
Hey TelcomJunkie: I've been reading this thread with interest. I myself am from the UK and now in NY and am on the Verizon Wireless plan and sending Intl texts at 25c and recieving at 15c is killing me! I was about to also take your advise and buy a GoPhone prepaid SIM to use in a second phone but I found some conflicting information. Check out here: AT&T, formerly Cingular-Learn About GoPhones Our Prepaid Phones/Plans - (click on the 'Features' tab) It states that INCOMING Intl SMS is 5c but outgoing is still 20c. Can you confirm your outgoing txts to Denmark are only setting you back 5c? If so I'll go out and buy a SIM card now! Thanks, Shakini.
I saw the same thing you did, but I went to a store and they told me differently so I took a chance. I'm only using this phone for texting Denmark and here is a copy of the online statement from the other day. 08/29/2007 04:09:52 PM CDT SMS Originating -$ 0.05 more information 08/29/2007 03:31:32 PM CDT SMS Terminating -$ 0.05 more information 08/29/2007 03:07:07 PM CDT SMS Originating -$ 0.05 more information 08/29/2007 11:15:31 AM CDT SMS Originating -$ 0.05 more information 08/29/2007 05:03:28 AM CDT SMS Terminating -$ 0.05 more information 08/29/2007 05:02:43 AM CDT SMS Originating -$ 0.05 more information 08/29/2007 12:51:37 AM CDT SMS Originating -$ 0.05 more information 08/29/2007 12:41:16 AM CDT SMS Originating -$ 0.05 more information This phone is on the pay as you go plan, not the prepay unlimited or whatever the other one is.
Thanks for the info! Looks like in case of high volume of international texting AT&T PAYG is the best deal, given that it costs $100/year to maintain an account. For those with lower volumes T-Mobile may still be a better deal if you get to Gold Rewards level.
This could be getting ready to change - I received a text message from at&t on my prepaid SIM (PayGo plan) yesterday that indicates effective 10/30/07, the text messaging rate is increasing to $0.15 per message sent/received. They are promoting their text messaging plans for prepaid service. I am not aware of an "international plan" for prepaid service - although they do have one available for post paid plans. Texts sent to international destinations aren't covered in the other messaging packages for post paid service.
