Poll - Willl the Amazon Fire Phone be a Hit? See the Press Release announcement here: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/w...ng-fire-first-smartphone-designed-amazon.html What is your black or white prediction YES or NO?
I'm voting NO because it makes no sense to me that it should be a hit. Then again, I didn't expect the Kindle Fire to be such a hit either.
I needed a "Maybe". In the absence of which I am going to vote yes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I say no. The pricing is out of line for such a niche product. Only thing that seems right to me is the storage sizes. They stated the prices based on contract.... And AT&T is upping the fees for folks who opt for contracts. Also, the thing being an AT&T exclusive isn't a good thing. It should have been at least unlocked. Ultimately, time will tell. I intentionally left out 'maybe' and/or 'it depends options because everybody would vote those. I voted NO. The competition is too fierce. I think Amazon's strategy will be to keep adding free extras like prime and music streaming. That won't be enough.
I would've still voted NO, even if Maybe was an option. Maybe requires too much rationalizing. NO could mean I'm just stubborn and don't care what common sense dictates
I voted YES, because somewhere and sometime (I think it was a GM car exec) said that you always can sell 100,000 of something new. Sort of like the movies...you don't get a refund if the movie is terrible. That is the best that I can thing of without seeing the device. A lot of gimmicks that may or may not be useful...but coupling in Amazon Prime membership as a promo, and with the ATT NEXT program, make is worth a try for some. I only hope that Amazon doesn't start messing with Kindle books for other platforms the way the are giving grief to some book publishers now. Also, the movies and stuff...well, I wouldn't watch them on a smartphone anyways...well maybe... but not routinely. So it will be a hit, if 100K or 400K is considered a hit...only time will tell after that. I have no interest in being a first customer. But I will be very curious to see how all the bells and whistles appear in person!
Given that the general consumer doesn't educate themselves much before buying, and is easily "wow'ed" by eye candy, I voted "YES," it will definitely be a hit. Maybe not here where most of us know technology, but to the general consumer, yes.
It will be a hit. With the market saturated, and most people still in contract it won't be a instant hit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
