Well I think we can all safely say now that Verizon will for sure be getting the iPhone sometime in 2011. It could be Jan/Feb or June/July but its safe bet to say that by July we will for sure see a Verizon iPhone. So I'm gonna post a poll here to see who plans on getting one!
My "Yes" means eventually. I don't think I can hold out much longer. My Voyager recently had a nervous breakdown and now thinks there's a wired headset attached to it, so I'm having to use my stand-by (and ancient) Nokia 6256i with the notorious hinge crack... The Droid X is the phone I would get in a pinch, so I'd get the Verizon iPhone once I'm eligible for an upgrade again (2011 or 2012), especially if Verizon offers an early upgrade option like AT&T's done.
My yes means eventually as well. I just went back to Verizon in July of this year though. So there is no way I will be eligible for an upgrade in January unless Verizon offers me some sort of discount. Although it also depends on the full retail price and other factors. So mine is a yes to but I don't know if I will wait a while or just be able to go ahead and get it when it's available.
I voted "No", Verizon has poor coverage here, it is not GSM, and I don't want an iPhone. ;- Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-us; SonyEricssonX10a Build/R2CA016) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1
If it's a dual mode CDMA/GSM iPhone, no. If it has LTE, maybe. It will be interesting to see what percentage of AT&T people will jump ship and head over to big red when the time comes.
Not anytime soon for me. I just paid an arm and a leg for my Droid Incredible and I am not eligible for an upgrade until 12/2011.
No for me, but I'm telling every iPhone lover I know moving to VZW is going to improve their cell service drastically
Considering you live in the bay area it should. AT&T is known to have AWFUL service in that area. I haven't seen one happy customer of AT&T in the San Fran area.
My "No" means "no ***ing way, not even if Verizon builds a tower in my front yard and Steve Jobs personally knocks on my door and begs me to take one*". *Note: the nearst Verizon tower to me is about 5,000 miles away ,and Steve Jobs doesn't know who I am....yet
AT&T wasn't as bad as it is today (compared to VZW) until it's been swarmed by all the iPhones. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I'm hoping that if they all up and move to VZW I can have my AT&T service back
I am reluctantly with Verizon because of ATT's service out my way. And sorry, I blame the iPhone and ATT's weak 3G network, which cannot handle the traffic.
i wont even think about getting an iphone, first cdma version will probly have losts of bugs, remeber the first gen iphone and all the issues it had with its gsm transmitter. i live in the bay area too, seems like all att phones are iphones. the only time when att had good service around my house was the TDMA/AMPS days, GSM dont work worth a danm around here. i realy hope the iphone will be LTE, so it wont bog down my cdma phone's networks like someone said it did to att, LTE is very similar to a wifi network, so i shouldn't have a problem with my 2g cdma network. as its completly diferent, but it wont happen.
With VZW I would get better service at the gym and bowling alley--two places where I actually get a chance to sit down and use my phone. AT&T has coverage, but it doesn't make it into the buildings and frequently suffers speed issues in areas on base. However, in areas of good 3G coverage (most of the city and insterstate up to TN), I'd hate to give up the 3+ Mbps I get from AT&T for ~1 Mbps on VZW. But, I'd rather have EV-DO than EDGE in those other areas (TN and off-highway in general)... So you see my rationale for "maybe".
I voted no since I've been looking at the Droid Pro and people have told me that they are satisfied with their Droid/2/X. Other reason is I don't want to wait several months for the iphone.
Well, I originally voted yes, but now it's a big fat NO! Just got the Droid X and don't plan on getting an iPhone (if EVER available on VZ) for the next two years (at least, if ever, as I'm jonesing on Android!).
I am really starting to like android much more now so i dont have any plans of getting any more iphones. I never say never but as of right now no plans for the vz iphone if it comes out.
