My girlfriend is in Michigan, I visited her and told her I was going to visit family, also in Michigan.. I called her from NYC (don't ask, I was bad) and told her I am still in Michigan... will her bill show where I called from??? I think she's cingular or nextel.. not quite sure. I'm Verizon. PLEASE HELP!!!
Cell phones show the city & state of the exchange the cell phone belongs to. My Dad's cell phone always displays as Culpeper, Va but he is never there, that's just where his # is local to.
Yeah I definately agree. I'm pretty sure that the only thing that shows up on the bill under city is the name of the city where the number comes from. IE, mine is from El Paso, Texas, so it always shows up as El Paso, Texas. I'm 99% sure that it won't. Welcome to WA by the way.
I travel to phx quite often and the only thing that shows is where my town, it never shows that the calls are initiated in phoenix. Not to worry, but next time be a little more careful
I was just thinking she might catch you is if she sees your bill. I know on my bill when I travel outside my home area sometimes my calls show up as XXX FOLLOW ME where XXX Is the area code I was in when I received the call.
"Follow Me Roaming (FMR) allows you to receive incoming calls when traveling outside of your home area and explains how it is billed."
If I may Jake and no disrespect intended, if you were behaving yourself and was honest with your girl from the beginning you would not have all this unecessary worry.
Joe, I agree 100%! But the thing is it's a fresh relationship and I had no idea I gave a crap until this happened... so in a way this was a good thing. Do I sound :loony:?
Yes, depending on how your plan bills roaming you may have the call delivery (XXX Follow Me) lines on your bill or an itemized roaming section with the SID and SID label detailing the area the call was placed from.
She will not see my bill. I was mainly worried about whether my call to her or our TM's would show on hers... ::crosses fingers::!
Next time I won';t fall for a monster! By the way, Verizon sucks! I payed almost $1,000 on overages last month! Thanks Verizon! I'm dumping them as soon as a find a good plan! Suggestions anyone?
What kind of overages? Did you go over your minutes? Do you have a local plan and travelled outside your local area? Please elaborate in order for us to help you.
Went over minutes... was not aware that overages were so high. I feel kicked in the teeth by this. I'm a loyal customer for years and they bang me out like this. It's not the money, it's the fact that they can get away with it.
Seriously Andy, there's no reason to charge someone $1,000 a month for using the phone a lot. I can see a dime a minute, but close to 50 cents? Come on! I can call Austria for less.
Jake, I'm sorry to break it to you, but unless you are on a plan like Sprint's Fair and Flexible plan, most/all carriers do charge overages as high as, or even higher than Verizon. Sorry to break it to you. I agree that overages should not be as high but they just area. Sorry. Have you tried calling Customer Care? They have been known(especially lately as their policy for changing plans and backdating changed) to backset your last month's plan to one that would have covered your usage. Try calling them first before paying. Be nice and polite and explain the situation.
Call them right now if you have nothing to do. You shouldn't have paid in the first place and first called Customer Service and asked. I did the same thing last month without a problem. They were nice, friendly, and did everything without a problem. It's not their problem to watch every single customer's usage and call them up if it's too high and ask them what they want to do- it's your responsibility to check your usage, hence you have features like #MIN. If you are going to go over again, call them, say that you already paid your last month's bill and tell them that this month's usage might be just as high and see if they can backdate the plan upgrade. IF your usage this month will be higher than your allowed anytime minutes, I'd upgrade plans if I were you and not just yell at Verizon.
Thanks Andy. We're not all wireless pros, they should not take advantage. My contract expired some time ago... will/did that make any difference? What happens if you don't re-up your contract? Can you then cancel at any time? Thanks in advance.
