I am often off in remote areas with my cell phone my only means of communication. My Samsung galaxy S3 had a poor radio/signal in it and is lousy for picking up a good signal and is irritating to say the least.
Since I am in the market for a new phone can anybody recommend a phone that is better at picking up the (radio) signal for the best reception? Is there a source to compare this kind of info? I've talked to various sales reps about this but they mostly don't seem schooled in this area. Blah.
My wife's iPhone does a very good job when compared to my Samsung but
    I love android.
    I use AT&T.

I don't have a phone recommendation, but have you considered installing an antenna on your car? They are very small and may aid the signal. Alternately, consider these portable options:

Motorolas have long been known for good radios. There isn't much for top-of-the-line except for the MotoX (either 1st or 2nd generation). A step lower would be the MotoG LTE (very good, and unlike other MotoGs, it does take SD cards).

I have an HTC One M8 on AT&T, and I've been very happy with the reception.

Thanks for the answers guys. Kevin: I do have a Wilson 4G booster I purchased last year that came with a inside broadcast antenna. It didn't perform well do I called Wilson and they told me to look for their next generation 4G max that was coming out soon...haha. suggested I sell the original 4g booster..
Mframe: I like your idea. Motorola had never done me wrong but I got lured into the Samsung romance. I'm thinking that Moto x latest generation is on my sights.
Jay: My Google research showed the HTC as a good choice also.
I live android but I hate their commitment to reception that the phone ultimately will depend on.
    Thanks guys.

I'd lean towards Motorola and HTC on this. I was good on Moto, and even my Samsung Note 2 was great on Verizon, but that damned Note 3 has the craziest antenna.
