I am seeking to upgrade my phone thru VZW.com, and want to get the motorola droid, and the cost would be 150.00 using the 50 dollar credit for the new every two. However i went to wirefly.com and i can upgrade my phone to the Motorola DROID for $19.99 flat out. I am hestitant on doing to cause i am not familair with wirefly.com Can anyone tell me the pros and cons on upgrading with wirefly and the difference of purchasing a phone with VZW.com and wirefly. ? Thanks all as aslways...

If you purchase from an online merchant such as Wirefly, be careful. Often they have great rebates, but you need to watch because there are a lot of strings attached to them, and you may end up submitting your rebates, only to find out that it wasn't submitted properly, and you don't get the rebate. Dealers like that also usually add additional ETF's, so if you end up cancelling service you may have 2 ETF's to pay, one to the dealer, and one to the carrier.

Is the Moto Droid really $150 with your NE2? If you go to BestBuy.com or the store - the Droid with upgrade will cost $99.

I really like my Eris - it's $49 or $99 at the store. I looked at the LG Ally - it seemed similar to the Moto Droid.

Though I touched the Incredible again today. If I had a NE2, I think I'd get it.

Yea with my 50 dollar credit, it would cost me 150.00, otherwise 199.99......however i was contemplating the incredible and hear great things about it ! ! ! !the incredible on wirefly and walmart.com sell for 150.00 so its the same as vzw.com.... i have never really expeirenced anything good with motorola either... i also went to walmart, com and if i wanted to upgrade to the droid it would still cost me 19.99 however it looked like wirefly but with walmart at the top so im not to sure again.....gees decisions , decisions, decisions......

I think the smart thing to do is to stay away from Wirefly -I looked them over a few times prior to making my switch from AT&T to VZW. Just my opinion. I researched deeper & found that many people have had problems with them.

Thought my best bet was to stay with one of the big box electronic or general stores. And through work, my discount made it just as easy to go straight to the VZW store. I did get them to agree to match Amazon and/or Best Buy prices on the various phones I was looking at - though they were reluctant to. I just mentioned that I was thinking of buying phone X at store Y since I saw that it was at price Z. On phones that they couldn't exactly match the price, but could lower it, I got 1,000 extra minutes to use if we go over some month (we haven't) & a free month of data thrown in. $25-30 free data on 2 lines plus the minutes made it worth staying at the VZW store & not going to one of the others.

As far as which one to get - spend more time in the store looking feeling them. If the physical keyboard appeals to you - stick with those. I wasn't sure about going totally touch screen (came from a BB8310), but the added weight of the physical keyboard was a dealbreaker that way for me. I prefer a lighter slimmer phone when possible.

Good luck with your decision. You won't make the wrong decision - though maybe for the rest of your NE2 you'll have phone envy for a bit each time an upgraded phone comes out.

I would avoid Wirefly like the plague.

I agree. stay away from Wirefly. I had calls from customers that got burned by them and expected the carriers to honor what they Wirefly promised. Naturally, they would not.

Remember "if it sounds to good to be true it probably isn't".

    Think of it this way:

even if they gave you the phone for FREE you'd be saving $200. Over 24 months, thats $8.34/month or <$0.28/day.

But if you have a problem...well you're gonna have a problem for 24 months. unless you pay the ETF which will wipe out ur $200 savings and actually cost you more money....
