    Hey all...

I got a special deal through the VZW "MyAccount" subscription that allows me to get a special deal to upgrade my phone at the 1-yr anniversary with a new 2-yr contract.

I need to take advantage of this as I don't like my LG vx8300...the reception (or lack of) and the difficulty with bluetooth is about to send me over the edge. I had the Samsung a670 beforehand and loved it!

I'm looking for a phone that has solid reception/bluetooth/clarity....any suggestions?? I'll be able to upgrade in June.

    Thanks in advance!

The best phone I ever had with Verizon was the LG VX8600. The phone has excellent RF, good audio quality, a nice look, and a solid set of features for the price.

I agree with Dan. Of all the phones I have had, the only other phone that is slightly better for reception is the E815.

I think you will be impressed with this phone. My only complaints about it is that I wish there was a second speaker on the top of the phone next to the the other one so it could have stereo speakers, and I wish the speaker phone was louder. But I use my Motorola H700 headset, so this is not really a problem. Other than that, I am very impressed with this phone.

In the opinion of many forum participants both here and in the Howard Forums the Motorola 325i has the best reception. It also has bluetooth.

For CDMA carriers an extendible antenna may mean the difference in making or reception in fringe areas. The 325i has one.

My family and I have had LG's in the past and while they were good, the Moto 815s we have now far surpass our previous LG's in reception. The 325i is similar to the 815 in performance but not in bells and whistles.

Yes the bluetooth does work well on it..BUT I wouldn't be so quick to say that the 8600 got any better reception than the 8300 did. I had both of these. I only had the 8600 for about a week though and then I returned it and got the EnV 9900. I don't think any of the LG's will give you better reception than a Motorola will. As stated above, the best reception phone with bluetooth for Verizon is the Motorola V325i. :twocents:

Thanks for all the feedback...since Motorola seems to be getting better reception than the LG's, does this include the Razors? Or are they still worthless?

No, the Motorola RAZR from what I have heard still suffers from poor to average RF.

Personally, I think the 8600 has very stabe bluetooth. I use it all the time, and it is good.

The best bluetooth phone I have had was my Motorola E815.

Maybe on the Sprint network, but as far as Verizon and their RAZR's, they get very good reception. The Mororola Razr V3m is very good in the reception department. Not as good as the V325i though.

That's funny cause I have a friend that use to have Cingular and he hated his RAZR. The reps for Verizon and Sprint at the Kingsport, TN stores both have pretty much told me the RAZR is just average in picking up a signal and neither Sprint or Verizon recommend it. Airb330 has recently complained this his Motorola RAZR with T-Mobile is quite bad in the RF department also. So from what I have seen and heard the Motorola RAZR across all carriers is pretty much at best an average performer when it comes to picking up a signal.

Personally I don't like the RAZR and I've had too many friends that has had problems with them.

I've used the RAZR on every carrier now except Sprint and haven't had a problem with any of them. I do think that the newer RAZR's like the V3m and V3t have a better reputation than the old ones did. I know allot of people that still use them and have never complained about poor reception. My family members that use the newer ones all get a signal in the places where my non RAZR phones do.

I personally have a RAZR V3t. It's a great phone with above average reception. I consistantly get a signal where friends don't. Mobile Princess is right. The new generation of RAZRs i.e. V3i, V3m... all work well bolth in the RF and reliablity department. Plus the RAZR has a BIG bright screen, good bluetooth, AND it's not bulky.

I'm hearing that the 8600 is a good phone, but after having my 8300, I'm feeling leary of taking on another LG...I've had Samsung and Motorolas and liked them....so I don't know where to go here...

Well my grandmother and mom have the LG VX8300 and I had the LG VX8600. My 8600 seemed to performed a little better and would work in a couple of places just fine where the 8300 was hit or miss. Both the 8300 and the 8600 have good RF but the 8600 is a little better.

    Jodi,

If this helps, I was down in the Everglades City area about 10 days ago (about 15 or so miles north of there is a "scenic" highway called Jane's Scenic Highway), and the road is all dirt with tons of potholes, thick trees, and at some points, the road is only big enough for one car (some areas were just wide enough for my Suburban).

My dad's E815 was getting one bar and my 8600 was getting no bars. The whole time down there, the phone didn't switch to "no signal" indication. I looked at it a couple times, and I knew that I wouldn't be getting any calls since the closest tower is approx. 7 miles away and my db signal was -105 to -106 with an EC/IO of -20 to -25. Needless to say, in the middle of the road, while in thick brush, my 8600 ringed and I was able to hold a conversation without it dropping. I was very satisfied with my phone that day. :)

In terms of reception on the Verizon network, E815, V325 are excellent. Never used the V325i, but I would think, it's as good as the V325. My friends Razr and Krzr also get excellent reception. I think, generally, Motorola phones get very good reception in Verizon network.

Gamer...thanks for your feedback on the 8600...that's a great factual account.

Thanks to everyone else on the matter too. I'm glad I don't have to think about this until June....I don't like shopping for phones. No matter how much research I do, I always feel like I'm missing something.

I've had a good amount of 8600's swapped out recently for reception issues. Personally I don't think I've ever swapped out a samsung a930. But if your upgrade is in June you also might wanna consider the Samsung u540. It will be out very soon and it looks like a pretty good one.

    Your welcome Jodi.

Like I already said....the only things missing from the phone is a louder speaker phone and dual stereo speakers.

    Jodi-
I would recommend the 8600 as well I can upgrade in a few months and I am sure that is one I will get.

  23. Ive never used a verizon branded razr, but the one Ive used on US Cellular has had excellent RF. I forced my US Cellular V3M to Verizon and used it side by side next to my old verizon LG VX-6100 & 3200, and the v3m got alot better signal on it than the lg phone did on verizon towers.

I would recommend to you either the Razr V3m or the Lg 8600 as others have.

Most likely they are, they seem to be the same.

The reception for the 8600 is about the same as the razr. Some say slightly better, but i can't vouch for that.

    Jodi,

Another thought is to pickup a 815 from Ebay and wait to Verizon releases some new phones. I have the 815 and so far nothing in my opinion comes close. Just my 2 cents..................................
