Will Alltel still replace it? Or at least give me a deal on a new phone? Someone told me alltel will still replace harware up to a year after purchase. Or something about a year. I have dropped it quite a bit but the scree/keypads are not cracked or broken in anyway. The dot on the battery is still white so theres no water damage. I have had the phone for 8months and this week the screen has been messing up. It sometimes goes white, static, or has bars that get stuck (if that makes sense) and the screen will be backwards like you flipped it and the words are written backwards. Is this just something that happens with the LG Scoop?
Who knows? If the phone is less than 12 months old it would still be covered under warranty, BUT you admit to dropping it quite often, which could VOID the warranty making it moot. Have you taken the phone into a sales office to have it evaluated?
Here's the damage its mostly scratches and one dent. I managed to get a shot of the screen with the lines on it and when it goes white. This one shows the scratches: This one shows the lines on the screen. The button on the left of the screen has always been loose as well. It feels like it will fall out. White screen, it stays like this for a few minutes before it decides to come back: Small dent on the top (in the gray area): More scratches:
Hmm something is loose I bet. It's a shame Alltel don't try to repair phones. I know in Hays, KS there is an Alltel dealer that offers repair services. You could shop around but I think they may take it back as part of warranty. When you take it in don't say anything about dropping it. The worst they will say is no. If then you could try shopping around and getting it fixed. PM me if you want the name of the place in Hays that may be able to repair it.
Ok now the screen is just completely white. I still receive calls and text but the screen stays white all the time. What are the chances Alltel will replace it?
I will let Bryan handle thus one. I would probably say warranty would cover it. have you tried pulling the battery for a minute?
I won't hazard a guess on warranty coverage. It's clear the phone has been dropped - even I could spot that dent in the case and the scratches which make it clear the phones has suffered physical damage - which COULD invalidate the warranty. Better to take it to a Sales Office for evaluation.
Well the worst they can say is no. Although if you get insurance and leave it on the line and further damage happens you can spend the $50 to get it replaced.
They are going to send me a new phone and I have to send this one in. They did it without any problem.
Cool! I thought warranty might work. My 6800 had similar problems once and it had the red light of death and wouldn't start.
The phone they sent me has red x's on the water damage dot. Is that just the brand of dot they put back on it that already has x's? Mine I am sending back in has no x's.
Some of the LG's I've owned had the red/purple x's on the sticker new and when sticker got wet it turned the sticker solid purple/red to indicate moisture.
