Bought a Motorola V360 for $99 in April 2006 by August 2006 phone and signed up for 2 more years. Then started having problems with battery. Lived with it little inconvience. Now not getting signal anymore in my home. Went to the nearest Service Center, they replaced the SIM chip. Got home still no signal and lost my phonebook number but not names even after they transferred everything to the new SIM chip. Dealt with customer service via email do to no phone for a week. Finally decided on my own to put the new SIM in my old Nokia and viola I get a signal. Well now they believe its the phone (when I went to the service center to arrange the exchange the service rep informed me there have been problems with this model of Motorola)!! The phone they are willing to give me in place of my Motorola costs $49 to buy and has fewer features than my V360. No slot of SD memory card and only 2 IM's. I understand the exchange isn't even going to cost me anything not even for the shipping. But why are they replacing a $100 phone with a $49 phone with less features and asking me to like it. Seems like I'm getting taken for at least $50. Now if I want a phone that is exactly the same as the one I have I have pay another $60. Anyone else had these kinds of problems? When my contract is up I'm switching to Verizon or Sprint.
no problems like yours..only having problems with my Samsung T-619 sending pics. I'm considering replacing this phone as I've been told by a rep that there are known issues with this phone!! Every Samsung I've owned have been junk!!
My wife's V360 has been crap, too. Mostly batteries not retaining a charge and going from full to dead within minutes.
I've had my V360 for a year now and have been lucky not to experience any problems with it at all. I will admit that the reception could be a little better on it. My V195 even gets a better signal than the V360 does. I would call TMobiles warranty dept. back again. The V3t would be closer replacement to the V360 than the one they are offering you frond the way it sounds.
I did call T-Mobile and fought with them for an hour about how I was being ripped off with the replacement phone. Now I'm stuck with a 64 mb SD memory card that I don't have anything to use it in. I told him I was being down graded.
I recently moved from Sprint to T-mobile. I personally did not face any problems with service or customer service of Sprint. But, the rules with Sprint are very stringent. They will not bend them. I have heard much worse stories about replacement phones with Sprint. I understand that you are pissed with T-mobile. My two cents worth is that the alternatives you are considering are not really a solution to this problem. If your phone is still under manufacturer's warranty, should Motorola not replace it for you?
They are giving us a Razor V3 Pearl Gray. And no T-Mobile told me not to contact Motorola because they would not replace the phone because it was still under the T-Mobile's warranty and they would send it to Motorola. I'm assuming it's because this particular phone has had problems in the past or so the Service Rep told me, and that I could it replaced with the same make and model. And on top of that they said I couldn't go to the Service Center in my area for replacement. And I would have gotten a Loaner Phone if I didn't already have a phone to use in the meantime while waiting for the new phone to arrive. So what good does the Motorola warranty do if T-Mobile told me not to contact them?
I hope this replacement works for you. I don't work in the business but I'm thinking that it is possible that T-moble didn't want you "going over their heads" by going to Motorola. Just like car dealerships will usually bend over backwards to keep you from contacting Ford or GM when they can't resolve a repair. (Just my opinion)
I would try calling Motorola and hear out their argument before taking T-mobile's words for granted. If you have another phone to use in the meantime, you can try telling T-mobile that you do not mind waiting for replacement of the same model phone. The flop-side though is that you might get a refurbished one (something like Sprint does).
I've had the V360 since december 2005. Ive dealt with all the problems that you have had. I would contact motorola as well, they sent me a phone after mine stopped working (wouldn't hold a call between cell towers) relatively fast. The signal has been better (~-5db) since i got the replacement, but there are phones that get much better reception.
