can anyone tell me if I can buy a phone elsewhere and have it activated on the Alltel system, specifically I want to get the Motorola (RED) Razr and the (RED) H500 bluetooth headset, they both contribute to AIDS in Africa, but I have not found them for Alltel yet, maybe never.

You're going to need to purchase an Unlocked Razr that will work on CDMA, and operate on Dual or Tri Band frequencies...

Alltel does have a Red Razr but it's not a product (Red) Razr. The one that Alltel carries is more of a maroon color.

The only carriers that carry the product (Red) Razr are Sprint and US Cellular. Do not get a Sprint Razr because Sprint locks their phones. The US Cellular razr might be an option if you can find one. But my advice would be to get an Alltel razr and make a separate contribution to the Red Cross or another charity involved in fighting Aids in Africa. Or better yet imo, a contribution to Aids research. Honestly, instead of paying retail price for a Razr, the charity would get more if you got an Alltel Red Razr with a contract and just donated what you would've paid for a retail price (RED) Razr directly to charity.

An Alltel branded phone is also really the only way you would have full functionality of the phone that I know of. Another phone might have problems with everything but voice and texting.

Ditto. If you want everything to work the way it should buy a alltel phone.
