Even funnier/odder: I can be holding my phone in my hand, looking at the display, and feel a phantom vibration in my shirt pocket or pants pocket (I use both for the phone) and wonder how the heck that can be happening.

I worked for one electrical contractor for a couple of years who used Nextel phones. I think I developed Phantom Bleep Syndrome. I would hear that phone bleep all the time.

I'm that other guy who misses most notifications when the phone is set to vibrate :)

I've never heard of such a thing. Then again, I've never used a device with Samsung software on it

I do as well. The vibrate is rather soft on the 6s compared to my other devices including the 6s.

I hear my wife's 6+ vibration from another floor. It's only my devices in my cargo pockets that leave me clueless

I could hear my 6 as well, always thought that had the perfect vibration strength.
