The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee of the Pennsylvania General Assembly has complied a report pursuant to Senate Resolution 206 PDF Version of the Report HTML Version Check it out, and let me know your thoughts on their findings and their progress on finding solutions for reliable wireless coverage in Pa.
As a Pennsylvania resident, I'm not impressed with their recommendations. I don't see how that will significantly help Pennsylvanians get more service in their area.
Useless? Perhaps the report itself and the research was a relative waste of time and money, but they are at least considering opening up the possibility of sharing space on towers owned by the Commonwealth (e.g. Public Safety Radio Services)... which may not be a big deal to those of you who have service where you live and work, but it is at least an encouraging alternative or possible solution to those of us without good cell coverage. ...They aren't expected to have feasible solutions at this point. And I think it's great that they actually set aside funds for such research into wireless solutions/improvements in the state (and not just one little town, etc.) ...They aren't there yet, but it's a better initiative than I've seen by any other state in a long time (which may just mean that PA is a bit delayed in their initiative) - REGARDLESS, I think it's a good thing. I just hope the committee and the state follows through.
Re: Pennsylvania Compiles Cell Phone Service Report Opps... Picky Detail Correction: I missed this when I first posted, but I meant to title this thread with the word "compiles" (or actually, "compiled") and not "complies" ...although I guess I was hoping the state would suggest more of a promise to comply with the demands of a wireless society... :browani:
