I'm sure the carriers worked with each other to figure out what the best way to do this PPU raise is, as well as learned from Sprint's mistake. I personally do think that PPU Text Messaging is part of the signed contract, because it shows under Plan Features/Detail at Verizon, and I signed my contract with PPU Texting because I approved of the 10 cent fee to send and 2 cent to receive fee, then it went to 10 cents send and receive and now 15 cents to send and receive. This is not the original terms and conditions I signed up with and agreed to when signing my contract, so if I don't agree with these changes, which affect me directly, no argument I should be let out of my contract.
You could just send the text messages for free, of course. Just use a site like: http://www.text4free.net
Yes, but with the rate increase it'll still cost the recipient $.15. Sending for free is simple (email will also send for free).
Yes, definitely for Orange subscribers it will be. The jury on Blue is still out -- the information out of CS is conflicting at this time. Of course if the recipient is on a plan, there will be no increase in either send or receive price.
Gee, I am getting the impression of "Price Fixing" here, especially if they start chatting with each other, and that from my understanding is illegal. I still don't think they can make Blue customers pay for incoming SMS, If they do and those still under contract can get out as a breach of contract. I may have to do some digging to see if I can find my old Blue contract, but this would seem to be a breach, since they always said "Free Incoming SMS" as part of your plan.
i know now that Sprint does not list it as part of your plan......i checked out my moms the other day and its not on there.......but mine says 1000 messages cuz thats how many i have
There had to be a reason they let people out of their contracts without paying an ETF, and saying that it was a breach of their contract. I checked and confirmed that they do offer an unlimited SMS plan for $15.00 a month.
Here is another thought. Maybe the package prices are going to change. And this is away to get more people switch to them by raising the non-package price.
It sounds like Verizon is trying the same tactic as Cingular & looking for people to get on these package plans. I think they won't change them till after the date they raise the rates, since they don't appear to want people to get better SMS plans. At least Verizon has better SMS plans vs Cingular.
i sure as hell hope that Verizon isnt headed the same way as Cingular when it comes to texting cuz that will be a real kink in Verizon's side
Cingular charges waaayyyy to much for messaging and data services..........it cant possibly cost them that much for data and messaging services with everyone else getting ceaper data plans with unlimited data and what not
Cingular only has 2 SMS plans, 1 for $4.99 will give you 200 SMS and the 2nd is $19.99 for 3000. They also have 2 Mediaworks plans that has SMS & MediaNet included. 1 is for $9.99 for 400 SMS and 1MB of data and the 2nd is for $14.99 for 1000 SMS and 5 MB of data. They need to have something else, and if they had something like Verizon with "IN" SMS included it wouldn't be as bad or better yet like Sprint an Unlimited SMS plan.
It can't possibly cost them one tenth of what they're charging on SMS, if you take into account they charge both incoming and outgoing.
Looks like they may change after all...This is unconfirmed: The $5, and $10 packages will stay the same. The NEW $15 and $20 packages will be as follows as of March 1. $15 - 1500 Messages (now 1000) & Unlimited IN $20 - 5000 Messages (now 2500) & Unlimited IN.
The $5.00 will stay the same? (dead or grandfathered?) is it me or is that a joke. The new ones seem good, not perfect but good!
How is this a joke? A company doesn't need to revamp all the plans, they can just modify/add/delete whatever they want...
I like the $5.00 package... the others are just overkill to me. Whatever works, use it. That's a lot of TXTing; something is better than nothing! VZW seems to hate the word unlimited Two options!!?! That's ridiculous! Cingular's all or nothing approach is atrocious; despite this, I do like the idea of combining data and messaging.
I like it too, when it's offered as an option to those who use both. I'm sure there's plenty of takers for SMS-only, as well as data-only packages. Their unlimited MediaNet for $19.99 was attractive, but paying $29.99 for the same thing for those who don't need messaging is ridiculous.
IF those plans are really going to be marketed, this is just a rumor right now and not even on Info Manager yet, the $20 package is basically unlimited, unless you don't have any friends on Verizon, which is unlikely, because then why would you be on Verizon, lol. I have the $10 package for Unlimited IN and 500 to other networks, and have currently sent/received almost 5000 SMS, and will not be billed overages, because only about 100 of these SMS are out of network. Imagine my bill with Cingular.
i liked it better when they had separate data and messaging packages.........they can make the bundles cuz sometimes those are really nice but they need to keep separate messaging packages for those people who could care less about data........and the messages need to be capable of being either text, pic, or vid...........and they need to offer unlimited................and M2M messaging cuz it costs them almost nothing to do a Cingular2Cingular message.........i could care less about that option on Sprint cuz all the people I know have either Verizon or Cingular or IMMIX.........so it wouldnt make a difference.........but if i were with Cingular i could save a lot of messages with M2M messaging.........
It's the network:loony:LMAO. I'm one of those people who have few friends on VZW but I don't talk to any of them . But VZW works best in my apartment and I didn't have to surrender any deposit money... it's a long story. If the rumors prove true, the new plans will be decent. I have no need for that many messages so I'll stick with the $5/250 messages.
yeah well thats why i have Sprint because i would be paying $1000 a month if it werent for unlimited vision........with this i get the unlimited data for free and 1000 messages for $10........its great!!!
I don't know how true it is, but at HoFo today I saw a post that Cingular is testing the Unlimited SMS between Cingular customers in TX & GA. If it is true, then something good may be happening with them for SMS & there is hope. If not then it's just one of those rumors over there.
