I wanted to post my PERSONAL experience with Sprint the last few months and I know this is crazy but please bear with me as I did try to make rational choices. Well back in May I decided to go to Sprint and try the Sero plan. And now I am back to square one with Verizon. I know there are a few of you that will laugh at me for leaving but I had good reason. What I want to do is list the pros and cons of my PERSONAL experience and tell you how it really was for ME. pros: The data was great really never had a problem in fact that to me is the biggest point of the Sero plan. The phone selection was very good I have to say there were some phones that I tried that I really liked. But the phone is only as good as the network. The plan itself simply amazing how can you compare anything to the Sero plan you just cant. Roaming great good to know that this could come in handy if I really needed it. cons: Customer Service is in all honesty the worst and most horrible experience I ever went through and I am going to be honest 2/3 times I got sent to someone in India. Give me a break is this a xbox 360 that I bought??? Also why is it when I called *2 I gave it a voice prompt and then I think I get to the right place but get transfered to another and another and another. The network in general I cant understand why it is that I had a great tower location and I had so much echoing (this was tested with landlines and other networks) and delayed messaging. Also to get back on topic the dropped calls I literally had to stand by a window to ever keep a call going. To get back on roaming you know what I could care less about this cause here is the simple truth. I bought this phone for the mobile to mobile and I also had the pick three option. Well since I had to jump onto verizon all the time m2m and pick 3 used my peak minutes. So wow I can get on another network but the unlimited voice features dont apply??? Account problem this ties in with why I had to call Customer Service so much and you know I didnt want to but it was my only option. When I got my phones I found out after looking online about 70% of the features that should have been there were not there. So hence to get these things added I had to call them. Unfortunatly during that time is when I got disconnected alot transfered and then made a trip to India. You know I have tried to be completly honest here and I know there are a select few of you who are going to give your 2 cents and that is fine. But I please ask you have a little respect and accept that this did happen to me and I just could not deal with the chip on my shoulder. Honestly dont attatck what I am trying to say here cause this is only what I have been through and I am in no way saying that this is anyone elses problem. I in fact encourage others please if you want to get or change to a new provider do what I did and give it an honest chance. I did give it more than a week and I know Larry I havent been with them for 10 years like you but if this would have been the case for me I would feel 40 years older from the stress lol. Now I have something I am happy with and works and that is all we all want I hope. God Bless and Happy Holidays. Also I am not the best speller so please excuse me for that.
my experience II Wow! I didn't know that you went through so much with Sprint. At least you gave them a true chance multiple times and they just didn't work for YOU. I do feel your frustration though. I last had them back in early 2005 and I had customer service problems (billing was my #1 issue)... the reps acted like I was dumb and stupid. Unlike RJB, my reps were American often based out of JAcksonville (I think) at the time. I had frequent dropped calls and went thru FRUs like crazy. TO their credit, I had no problems getting FRUs by mail. I tested to see whether Sprint would be viable for me in my new place, but it looks like the answer would be no for ME... my calls would drop or jump onto the Alltel. I am glad that roaming is good but that'll negate my M2M (my best bud and my dad have Sprint). I know people who have Sprint and are happy with them... more power to them! My best bud has sprint.... she hates their customer service and their phone policies, but she's willing to deal with that since she is not willing to part with her sweet plan. I, on the other hand, am not willing to put up with garbage to save a few dollars. I thought about Nextel, but everyone I talked to hated them and all of them have since switched to ATT and Alltel (even one has switched to Sprint CDMA), and couldnt be any happier. Sprint works for millions of people but they just didnt work for me either. I have no ill will, but I am happy somewhere else. I am not bashing sprint as a company.... just they didnt work for ME. No carrier is perfect and no one carrier will work for everyone ... just my .02
Re: my experience II Ryan, I am glad I don't have to listen to you complaining about your experiences with Sprint anymore every day. I, too, had similar experiences with Sprint. Their network in the most populated part of the state (over 1 Million people now in my county) was (albeit improving) not very stellar. I had a lot of dropped calls, a lot of calls going to voice mail without my phone ringing, and dropped calls when walking into buildings or the phone would hold on to a very weak, unusable Sprint signal. My Customer Service experience was also less than stellar. Problems arose, not because I WANTED or NEEDED something, but because Sprint screwed up and it gave me headaches trying to get the issues solved. I did not want anything from Sprint- I had all I needed on a $30 plan, but I did need things to be fixed when they were screwed up!!! I was transferred between Sprint and NEXTEL Customer Service endlessly and neither one was able to look up my account, etc. A few times I called Customer Service on a special number I got from some of you on the forums and the ladies literally _____ed at me wondering why the hell I am calling on this direct line and that I should refrain from doing this. Data was great, especially for it being included in a $30 Plan. The problem was that I could not hold Data connections while driving in the car, streaming video/audio would drop and would have to buffer, etc. I was in the process of moving when I had Sprint service. At my old house, the phone would hold on to an unusable Sprint signal and not work. At my new house, Sprint has great service, but it is so polluted that you can't use it. If you're able to make a call, it will drop within seconds. My work is another Sprint dead zone. My University coverage indoors sucks. Friends houses Sprint service is less than stellar. My Families houses across the valley, Sprint service is less than stellar...it just doesn't work. IF Sprint coverage works well where you are and if you can keep up with some Customer Service/Billing/ Feature issues, then go for it. I am perfectly contempt paying a little more for a service I know will work for me consistantly. Roaming does NOTHING for me when native service in my city sucks. It is too much of a pain to keep switching between native service and roaming. Andy
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.0.9800/209; U; en)) i too tried sprint. not good.
Re: my experience II And hopefully neither one of you ever decide to go back with Sprint because I'm tired of hearing about your complaints as well. If either one of you gets the urge to try Sprint again please send me a PM so I can talk you out of it.
Re: my experience II Well get used to us Larry we are here to stay. You like anyone else here has the choice to pass on a thread and not post in it.
Re: my experience II That's cool we like having you guys here. But's let's face it you already know Sprint doesn't work well for you so why keep going back for more punishment.
Re: my experience II You know I do have to say I did have some good moments with them no doubt. I really wanted to keep them. I guess I am just so used to something I didnt want change. Also the biggest reason is anyone and everyone I use voice with is on Verizon and I could not afford not to have the IN calling with them. Other than this if I was a single guy who didnt have a wife that takes to her family day in day out on Verizon, Sprint would be a keeper for me. So Larry you tell my family and friends to get on Sprint and I will be right back there with you lol.
Re: my experience II And your family and friends being on Sprint would magically make all your other Sprint problems disappear? I think you and your family would hang yourselves.
Re: my experience II No it would not make any problems go away but I could at least have unlimited calling to them when I needed it you know. But this ship has sailed.
Re: my experience II I've always wondered why it is so common for ex-users to post so much in these forums. If I was an unhappy user I would derive no joy from repeatedly posting about my old problems with a carrier :loony: However, I am used to it now- I just know that for every good thing someone has to say there will be several other former users that pop up to counter it. As Larry said, everyone is welcome to throw in their two cents.
Re: my experience II Eh :deadhorse this thread was going good I thought. Come on though I honestly posted what I went though here if you want to post an experience you have with something I will never question it. Tis a shame really.
Re: my experience II Um...he is an ex-user as of a few weeks ago and is sharing his experiences about WHY he left...is that so hard to grasp? :loony:
Re: my experience II He's not trashing Sprint as a whole... he pointed out the pros and cons with Sprint. To him, the cons outweighed the pros. He has since moved on to a different company and service is better for him. This is to be applauded. He had a problem brewing... so he fixed it. I just echoed his similar sentiments... I would LOVE to come back to Sprint (the value and M2M are the lures), but their network and customer service dont work for me. I'd rather stay away than to stew in my own mess if I went to Sprint and stayed.
Re: my experience II Exactly what I was trying to say. Too bad some of us one here apparently can't share our experiences without fanboys coming in, not being able to take it.
Re: my experience II I don't think Gman is spefically referring to this particular thread and situation or singling out RJB in particular. He's just stating that he wouldn't have the desire to repeatedly post his negative experiences with a former carrier and I happen to agree with him. I wouldn't either. It does seem that we get a lot of posts from former users in this forum but everyone is entitled to post.
Re: my experience II The bad thing though is that until things get better we all just have to accept that this is going to be posted. Sometimes things dont go the way we want them to but oh well right. You have to dig through the crap to get to the gold.
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: LG-CU515/V1.0c Obigo/Q05A Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.1.17.0) so im thinking of giving them another go.
when did you get a CU515? i really like that phone...is it better than the 6555? your gonna switch to sprint??
Re: my experience II Except when you would have been roaming which was an unfortunate problem you had Sprint happiness seems to occasionally be regional. If you don't have to call CS, you love Sprint, if you have to call them, we hate them. Oh. I have to call *2 today. I'm taking my pepcid before hand Though I had generally had good CS, after my migration to ensemble it has gone downhill.... Sorry it didn't work out for you. You gave it an honest shot. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. cheers.
