When I load up p2kSeem, the window at the bottom left says "connected" (when the phone is connected to the USB port) and "Not connected" (when not connected) as it should. I can see the phone in my device manager (when connected). That is however, as far as I get. When I try to do anything (Load or even Restart), p2kSeem pauses (goes into a "not responding" for about 10 seconds), and then comes back looking exactly as it did before. In short, it does not seem to actually be interfacing with the phone. What could be causing this? I'm running Windows Vista 32 on my laptop.

    thanks,

    Chris

    update:

It looks like when I initially plug in my phone, device manager detects it as a modem (Motorola USB modem). At this point I can open Motorola Phone Tools and it can connect up that way. I can sync my contacts. However, if I instead try to open p2kSeem or p2kCommander, device manager re-detects the phone as a "Motorola USB device" (no longer under the modem list). At this point I have the above problem in p2kSeem but I can also nolonger connect through MPT. If I try to open MPT, MPT can not find the phone. I have to disconnect the phone and reconnect it. Device manager will again re-detect the phone as a modem and MPT will again work as before.

So...why is my computer thinking it is a Motorola USB device and not a phone?

What you are seeing is exactly the way it should be.

Here goes when you plug your phone in it should be listed as the Moto USB modem in device manager. When it is you are able to use MPT, BitPIM,Radiocomm, and QPST in this mode.

As for p2kseem and p2kcommander they need to be in the Moto device mode with 3 sub catergories. Which is simple terms is suspending the phone to be able to read and write to it. To get this mode correctly setup you need to be running either MSU or PST in the background prior to firing up one of the 2 p2k programs we are talking about. Which if you are not that may be why they aren't working right.

Now as to why MPT does not work after trying the p2k programs, simple answer. By using p2k you changed the driver mode. So like you've seen if you unplug the phone then plug it back in it is again in Moto USB modem driver mode guess you could say. then you've noticed MPT works. So in short anytime you switch mode or programs it's best to unplug it and then plug it back in. Only time I would not do that is if you were going to go from 1 p2k program to the other. Then you wouldn't need to unplug it seeing as you would want the phone in the Moto device mode.

P2K works different with CDMA phones. I'd try a different version of P2KCommander.
