I am running out of time so please excuse this repost as a new thread.

    Overcharge on New Phone

I will report back on how I make out with the RAZR2 compared to the AX8600.

$249 is still high for a phone but much better than $299.

    Thanks for the input.

Just got my new Alltel bill. Alltel added a $100 charge to my monthly bill for a phone upgrade for the RAZR2. I already paid the full charge of $277 for the phone which included shipping and tax on my American Express card. The price of the RAZR2 was $449 with a $200 instant savings (no mail in rebate). So now I am paying $349 plus the tax and shipping. Customer service billing says they never had the phone for sale with the $200 instant rebate and will not do anything.

I did finally get a phone call from the salesman and he says the $100 will be credited back to my account but according to his supervisor it will take a couple of days.

My 20 day satisfaction guarantee is up Thursday November 22 (Thanksging Day and customer service is probably closed). I am wondering if I should trust Alltel to give me the refund or call them tomorrow and cancel the contract extension.

I think I got or am about to be screwed by Alltel and wonder if they are just trying to get me past the 20 days so I can't cancel my contract extension.

    Any suggestions or thoughts?

They are now selling the phone for $499 with a $200 instant savings and a $100 mail in rebate for a price of $199.

I think Alltel will make good on it. but If you would feel better I would cancel and get my money back and buy the phone again at the better price. Do you still have your old phone?

Yes I have both phone. I just left a message on the sales person's line telling him if I don't get the $100 credit by 4:00 PM this afternoon I was going to cancel my renewal. It says in the Customer Satisfaction Guarantee information that came with the phone that I can return them to the Retail Store for faster action

My phone just rang while I was typing this message and I was advised the refund was placed on my account immediately.

I checked on the Internet and it has in fact been issued.

    Thanks
