I just wanted to add, my wife and I go to France a couple of times a year, normally 2 weeks in the Spring and 1 week in the Fall. I always stop by an Orange carrier store and get a couple of pay as you go SIM cards. The carrier has built in video calling, no 3rd party application required, which is pretty cool. You can add unlimited data for a month and it's 11 euros ($13.68 usd) We got 3.5G, HSPA+ on our Nokia N8's.

It's so annoying that my N8 has video calling built-in and my GNex (or any Android AFAIK) doesn't. I don't believe iOS supports video calling (except for their iFace in uFace variant). How's WP in that regard?

WP has a program called tango (which confuses people due to the software update called tango) for videocalling. I don't know what a WP would do on the Orange network. I would guess that you would need to use the tango program.

The Nokia N8 sure works good on the Orange network.

Nokia N8 sure worked well on every network I tried. The only time I tried a video call was on the Russian MTS network in Moscow last year, to a Nokia 3120 Clasic. It wasn't all that great quality-wise, but the simplicity and no need for any apps was a big plus.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail the thread.

Hey, you were lucky enough. Last month, I used my Nokia N8 with the Orange simcard for my stay at Paris and I wanted to use the video calling feature. What happened was I wasn’t able to connect with the video call service. It kept on saying that the service was barred and I called the Orange service rep.

They said to do some technical details like changing the network codes or something (which I cannot totally remember) and it will become okay. But I tried all those things and still the video calling feature didn’t work.

When I tried using my wife’s Nokia C7 Astound, it worked. I was able to make and receive video calls. Thinking it must be the problem with the cell phone, I contacted my nearest dealer and took the phone with me. The technician checked the phone and said there was no problem. He said that lots of customers were having similar problems and it is basically concerned with the internal configuration of the cell phone.
