    That's an interesting article.

    It's surprising to see the U.S. ranked so low with some of the speeds I've seen posted here, but I am sure it goes by the nationwide average. One thing I've noticed about Europe is their overall coverage is better, but their countries are smaller.

    I haven't had a phone that has the Europe LTE bands, but their 3G speeds are really good and you get video calling through the wireless carrier, rather than a 3rd party application that we need in the states.

    Here's the 3G speed I was getting in southern France last fall, obviously I was close to the border of Italy and connected to a cell tower in Turin, Italy

    I didn't dig into the data, but I would agree that country size must be a factor.

    Something else I just thought of is the wireless carriers in Europe only uses GSM and only use two frequencies for 3G data, 900 and 2100. It's not split up like it is here in the states.

    In my area, Verizon wins in speed. I easily test 40+mbps on my Samsung Galaxy. In my iPhone 5 with T-Mobile I can reach near 30mbps. They are both amazing.
