^Agreed, here are some old-school German GSM logos (will have to do each provider separately since I can't add them all in one post, sorry guys): T-D1 (now T-Mobile) Then: ...and now:
And finally......: O2 Germany then: ....and now: Now you know what the Germans used to have in terms of provider logos.
I like this one... According to international roaming information for T-Mobile, in Germany, the phone will indeed display D1 when on T-Mobile in Germany.
They were 850 TDMA in Philly, but I have no recollection of them. I think Cell One bought them out, and I remember them. Cingular of course bought them out.
That's right, throughout most of the 90s Comcast owned a cellular network. I had one of their phones way back when.
It depends on how old your SIM card is. I've seen T-Mobile be displayed on a couple relatives' phones.
So agenthibby has found a few McCaw Cellular Well it is not a logo, but I have never seen the photo of THE MAN on wirelessadvisor.com
I love the carbon fiber-look of the old logo. Very nice. But what's that thing in the middle? A walkie-talkie or something? Surely it's not a cell phone, they never looked like that!
I remember back in 1995 when some lady in her 40's looking looking like she was over 60 talking on that exact phone (Nokia 100) in the grocery store. :loony: I could not believe back then someone like this could have a luxury item like a cell phone. In a few months one of my friends gets service with US West.
I remember that old Sprint logo quite well. Joe's pic has popped up once before on MSN.com I believe. Here's our man: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4315824/ I found more by searching for "Joe Bradshaw, WirelessAdvisor.com" at Google.
I wonder why I cannot remember Comcast cellular. I bet they were a HORRIBLE company, because the cable side certainly is.
I do like comcast cable they are tons better than AT&T Broadband and still tons better than Mediacom. It if was not for Comcast Cellular being sold in 99 Cingular Wireless may never be what it is today. With Verizon Fios TV going to see the light of day soon the cable companies are going to have to be better or we will have to have their old logos in roaming zone
Wasn't it also known as US Worst? Funny how its merger with Qwest didn't improve things very much. I have a feeling this will be the next "Baby Bell" to get swallowed up.
Funny, Rancid. This is very close to what my very first Nokia cell phone looked like when I started with PacTel Cellular/AirTouch back in the 90s.
Nah, just trying to be funny. I'm 26 so although I didn't actually own a cell phone until a few years ago I had seen the old install (not bag) phones in cars and such so the phone in the old WA logo isn't too big. I mean, c'mon I've got a Motorola brick phone on my desk.
It may be just the SIM card that does this, because an unlocked phone has no carrier-specific software built-in. This would explain when a Cingular phone is roaming off-network (or also outside the U.S.), it displays "Cingular Extend". I read some time ago that older Cingular SIM cards were to have received an OTA update back then that reprogrammed those SIM cards to display that.
That's what I believe as well. I've never had any problems with my SIM displaying a wrong name or preventing a logo change.
