So my sister just renewed her contract with Verizon and switched from a local plan to AC. I sent her an email of phones to get and phones not to get. At the top of my "Do not buy" list was the T720. So what did she buy? A T720.
I heard that they're now being shipped with a software update that fixes the bugs on the earlier version. Is there any validity to this or are they just as horrible as before?
I say we all chip in and get Matt's sister the cool 720 faceplate and a nice card from Hallmark. Something like: Your brother is Matt He's one you cannot hate To enjoy your new phone Get the .2DP update It's the least we can do....
forget the 4400 long live the vx6000 heh im at a "hot spot" with my laptop signed on to tmobiles WLAN this is cool, its nice and faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast
Well at least she will be able to see the screen of the T720, as it is cloudy most of the year. She could get a 6000 if Verizon's AC map is correct, but I doubt that. As there is no way that there was that much digital CDMA coverage added in a year.
Even if Motorola has updated the software mine still craked and had the buttons jam. So for my LG has been dropped twice as much and has only a few knicks.
At first I too had seen a lot of issues with the t720. i have sold some recently that have not come back with problems. (i would normally see them come back within 10 days or so.) i think motorola fixed most of the problems except for the crappy battery. she might be alright with this one. but, because of the history of it, i would still try and get her to exchange it before she finds out the hard way. or tell her to get the insurance so when it fails, she can hit it with a hammer and only pay $50 to replace it.
even without the bugs the phone just sucks. battery life is terrible, the screen sucks, its just a bad phone.
Yeah, the GSM versions are great. It's the CDMA version we're bashing. It's absolutely horrible. Worst phone ever. Motorola, you should be ashamed of yourself.
At least it's not a Krapocera 2235. I would be more than willing to trade....I'll even give her $50 bucks too.
Matt, I've got an old Nokia 5185i with the V556 software in it....Ill sell it to your sister for $10.00.
OK. I have the VZW t720 with .2dp software and I like it. It used to suck big time with the old software, but with new one, it's great. The battery power is great if you live in areas where reception is good. It seems to burn a lot of power searching for networks, but if it gets good signal, it doesn't use much juice at all on standby. I leave mine for over 3 days uncharged sometimes. But one thing is strange. I got the t720 for free after rebates last year at verizon wireless store, yet now it seems to be selling for 100+ after rebates.
I would hope you would just give that POS away. IMO the T720 w/ newest software is much better than the 5185i. I didn't have any reception problems with the T720 I had, but the 5185i was a different story.
I couldn't spike mine as I was hoping to return it for a different phone. But my provider never did get any other phones in, so I quickly dumped them.
Yes, I was trying to do something very similar, but, when the p.o.s was stuck in analog, I spiked it on the concrete. It was great to see the pieces fly.
What do you think of the T722i? GetConnected.com is offering a good deal on it with a TMobile plan. Advice welcome. Simon
That last message was for Anthro Matt - I'd like the list you sent your sister. Want an email addy for me? Thanks, Simon
