Hi, I'm new on the forum, and after reading dozens of posts I'm pretty sure that someone can tell me which companies are operating on which frequencies in Manhattan. For example, Verizon - 800 or 1900? Cingular - etc, etc.. Thanks alot. I'm really looking forward to participating on the forum...:)

    Welcome to Wireless Advisor!

T-Mobile operates on 1900 Mhz in NYC Metro Area; they actually operate on 1900 only throughout their nationwide network.

Cingular Wireless operates on 800 and 1900 Mhz.

Verizon was 800 exclusively until they decided to activate their 1900 spectrum for voice and did an 1900 overlay in many areas of NYC.

Sprint is 1900 only in NYC.

NEXTEL operates their 800 iDEN network there.

I hope this helps, again welcome to the forum!

As stated, Cingular and Verizon use both 800 and 1900 while Sprint and T-Mobile use 1900Mhz only. Nextel uses SMR 800Mhz which is a different portion of the 800Mhz spectrum.

If you'd like info on other areas of the US you can always go to www.wirelessadvisor.com and enter the zip code you are looking for.
