need to know if anyone has any experience with coverage of any cell carriers in the Ukian, Lucernce and Redwood Valley area. My company needs to have one of its employees to have a cellphone that works in that area and so we need a carrier that has the best coverage in that area. pretty much north of Santa Rosa

    any help would be great

    thanks in advance

I believe Edge Wireless (GSM) and US Cellular (CDMA) are the two best in the area. Verizon also offers service but I hear it's not quite as good in those parts.

Verizon will roam on U.S. Cellular there outside their native coveage area so you can go ahead and go with VZW.

I actually know of someone that lives/travels through the area and he has Cingular and Verizon. His Cingular roams on Edge 100% of the time and while Verizon does cover the Redwood Valley more or less, they fall back on U.S. Cellular's free roaming where Verizon's native service doesn't reach.

Cingular does not have a native network there. They roam on Edge Wireless 100% of the time... Here's the Cingular streel level map to prove it:

That pattern as shown there means roaming coverage.

Doesn't that mean that Cingular cannot actually market and sell phones and service there?

Well, I think that they used to sell service there because they own 40% of Edge or something. Let me see exactly what I can find out and I will post more info on this later.

Edge was an AT&T Wireless affilate then became a Cingular affilate after the merger with AT&T

Edge will roam on Cingular in Utah.

Cingular did sell service along I-5 in northern CA, but not in Ukiah

What I understand from a store (so take this with a grain of salt) When Cingular goes back to AT&T Wireless next year they are going to start buying out affilates. So if that is true Edge will become AT&T wireless, but who know when that will happen.

For hwy. 20, try US Cellular. I know firsthand that they have sites pending around Clearlake. As the other person said, Verizon, but US Cellular will soon be superior.

Your best bet would be to go with Cingular/Edge Wireless.... They are both GSM and have the best Reception. Far better that any CDMA Network there.
