Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Teleca Q7; Brew 3.1.5; U; en) 240X400 LGE VX9700) Just check some of my Alltel "Non Divested" cell numbers on the VZW website and they are now "IN". I called an "IN" Alltel cell number and talked for 5 minutes. Then I went to MY Verizon to check and I was billed 5 PEAK minutes .... Hopefully they fix that... So be careful. Just because the site shows "IN" they are not billing that way yet..
Wirelessly posted (Q's Mobile: BlackBerry8130/4.5.0.77 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105) The same happened to me but when I checked my minutes this morning, the call showed in
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Teleca Q7; Brew 3.1.5; U; en) 240X400 LGE VX9700) For me they only corrected part of the minutes yesterday... Some minutes earlier in the day are still billed Peak....
just quirks of the billing system.......once they move all the customers over it'll work okay.....have they already started moving those customers?
They haven't moved the Alltel customers just yet, they just made those numbers mobile to mobile (they also are dropping the "in" thing... just going back to calling it Mobile to Mobile calling. Existing VZW customer can take advantage, however Alltel customers will have to wait until the non-divested customers are moved over to vzw billing systems, probably 2-3 months.
so VZW customers can call the Alltel numbers that were kept and it gets billed as Mobile to Mobile but the Alltel customers can't take advantage of Alltel to Verizon M2M calls?
I think it's kinda dumb how Verizon customers can contact the Alltel customers and get it counted as M2M, but Alltel can't count Verizon customers as M2M. Doesn't seem fair to Alltel customers.
yeah it doesnt but it'll be fixed in a few months......they've dealt with not being able to get free calls to Verizon this long they can deal with it some more......it's their own fault they were with the smaller company
The smaller company in many places had better local and rural coverage, and as a general rule had better rate plans. Since I believe VZW will be getting rid of the Alltel billing system, it would be a waste of money to reprogram the billing system to make those calls M2M.
Which makes total sense given the state of the economy right now. Especially considering how Verizon assumed Altell's $27B debt... Unlike the old AT&T Wireless/Cingular merger, where two equal-sized entities merged, this is the opposite. Also, with Alltel offering My Circle, it makes the immediate need for M2M less of a priority for Alltel subs to have with Verizonites. Though it would be nice for all Alltel and Verizon customers to be M2M now, it will eventually happen later in this year. It's a business decision that makes sense (even at the expense of Alltel customers.
