It appears likely that the new Nokia 6385 will be released by Sprint by the end of the year.

I doubt that - I believe that the Nokia 3585 will be coming out for verizon most definitely

I am not sure about this but that I have heard: " the NOkia 3585 will be pushed back 'till 1Q of 2003. It will become the Nokia 3586 w/ a color screen. And will be coming out on Verizon "

The 6385 will probably be coming out more on Sprint than Verizon, but Verizon will definitely get the 3585!

The 6385 seems more like a verizon phone. I hope both companies get the phones, that'd be the best for everybody. -Airb330 at school, easy boring day!

Sprint is a flailing company - i think that they will be getting the 6385. They sure do need it.

VErizon will get the 3585 or possibly the 3586!

3586? Where are you making up these numbers from? Nokia phone models ending in 85 will be for Verizon or Alltel exclusively. Sprint gets models ending in 70.

Don't think that's true Bobo. Sprint had the 6185. The models ending in 70 are single band aren't they?

Right, Sprint might carry an xx85 phone if they had any relationship with Nokia. But Sprint is not into Nokia phones anymore. Although they could very well use a tri-mode phone, the 70's are CDMA1900 and are fit for carriers like Sprint and Cricket. They used to carry the 5170 a few years ago. Now Cricket carries the 8270.

Not true anymore. It appears that Sprint has renewed their relationship with Nokia and will start offering at least one model by year's end. I have a news link that supports this and seems very credible.

    Bobolito,
I don't think mrnokia realizes that we are both moderators and can suspend him if continues to be rude like this.

Why is it do you think being moderators you guys think you can rule? Maybe that is just my way of portraying myself and stating my opinions, you obviously have no litterary or socialization skills to recognize such forms of speech.

So can anyone standby there word and say that Sprint and Nokia have sprung a deal to have the nokia phones back. Did Nokia finally have the right CDMA chips put in there phones not a NOKIA CDMA chip but the really CDMA chips by qualcomm. Ive been ready the first replay about the 6385 that would be cool if they had a nokia phone on sprint network, because by July of 2003 and want to add another line and like that to be a Nokia phone for the wife she like nokia and doesnt want anything else and we would share the minutes. BUt until that happens she will be on her plan and Im on mine, I like my Sanyo4900. But what the wife wants she might get soon if all of you say that Nokia will have a phone for sprint by years end.

Sprint will absolutely be carrying Nokia phones once again. They will be offering the 3585 sometime this month. Looks like they have beaten Verizon to it. [IMG]

I love how they throw it in at the end of the article as an "oh by the way" kinda thing. The whole article is all about the 3510i, it seems. I think that site is a UK-based site, so they obvoiusly have their reasons to focus mainly on UK phones. [IMG] Anyway, it's great news that Sprint's gonna be carrying Nokias, because as much as I hate them, most novice users love them and that will draw more customers to Sprint (anyone think this is the reason for the renewed relationship?).

Ok so now you got my atention now with the NOKIA 3585, but its a black and gray display whats the point in that. Is there going to be a Color display for the nokia phone on sprint network, yea the NOKIA 3585 looks like a nice phone, but its not for me for my wife for next year when I get her on my calling plan shared minutes, just trying to find the best NOKIA phone for her. SHe is dead set on NOKIA phones doesnt want anything else, and like the sprint coverage and so do I were else can you do what sprint does go to didint states and if sprint is there your like at your home coverage area no long distance like like a local home calling. WHen she was in Hawaii she was on roaming, now with sprint NO roaming because Sprint had good coverage there too local call again. SHes got Cellularone. I really believe that Sprint is getting better each and every month. I always can make the first call to anyone with a redail because of network busy. I like that Cellularone is always is like that and will always be like that. Sorry to back track there, ANy Color displays for Nokia phones for Sprint. SO, did Nokia get the right CDMA chips this time. The Qualcomm cdma chips or is Nokia lieing to Sprint again. I remember that Sprint had Nokia once until they found out that Nokia was NOT using Qualcomm cdma chips.

Yep 3585 going to Sprint, just what Sprint needs another nice phone. This sucks, I really wanted that phone. I guess it IS going to be a 720 or a310 for me then.

That doesn't mean that Verizon won't get it eventually. It's just that Sprint can usually pull of these new phone deals long before Verizon can. [IMG]

Yes the new Nokia's for Sprint will be using the Qualcomm CDMA chip.

Any Color screen Nokia phones for Sprint. WHats the point of having a Gray and Black scrreen. Color isnt that hard to put in. At least I hope Nokia thought of putting one in anyways.

No, the new Nokia(s) for Sprint will not have color screens. It's not really necessary for some people who aren't going to be using Vision a whole lot. The new Sanyo 6400 will not have a color screen either.

Unless you are planning on replacing your GameBoy color screens aren't really necessary for the serious wireless user.

not only are color screens hard to read (poor contrast), they also need more lighting, which means more power, and thus less battery life.

Until these issues can be addressed (or a compelling use for color comes along), I'll stick with monochrome.

Selling Nokia phones could be one of the most strategic moves for Sprint. Nokia has strong brand recognition and there many die-hard Nokia fans who refuse to buy Samsung, LG, etc...

Yes it is a good move. But hopefully they will offer some better looking ones than the 3585.
