One more thing of interest, the 6340 (and probably the others) will be the first Nokia internal antenna phone that supports an external antenna.

Nokia's site says the 6340 is now avaible at Cingular Wireless. It's not on Cingular's website for sale yet but hopefully this is a good sign that it will be avaible VERY soon. I was told by an employee that works at an Express Booth in the mall that they may get it by the end of this month, I hope thats true.

According to a manager for one of the stores around here, they HAD the phones in the stores ready to sell, but at the last minute they pulled them to send them back for a software upgrade... Apparently they're not working quite the way Cingular expects them to, and apparently this isn't the first time they've postponed the launch due to unexpected glitches in the phone... But I'm with you in hoping this phone comes out soon. [IMG]

I am wondering if I should wait until October for the 6345. I am assuming the change will be it will work AMPS/TDMA/GSM 800 and TDMA/GSM 1900. Currently the 6340 will not work GSM at 800.

Who am I kidding? I will get the 6340 and then the 6345... just means two phones in one year. :)

So it looks like the 6340 is only a 1900Mhz digital phone. No AMPS or 800Mhz digital.

    The 6340 is 800 AMPS, 800 TDMA, 1900 TDMA, and 1900 GSM.

The only things missing are 800 GSM and GPRS.

I have heard rumors the "6345" will include 800 GSM and GPRS, but I have not seen that confirmed anywhere yet.

Call Cingular instead of going by their website. They take long to update their website. They might already have them ready even though it's not on their website.

According to 3 different reps I've talked to about the 6340, they're rolilng it out everywhere at once, instead of the original idea to roll it out only when a given area is going GSM soon. Everyone also seems to be saying last week of July/1st week of August as the original launch date... and it's supposedly going to be "very affordable" ($100 or so on a 2 year contract). Mind you this is all hearsay, but the fact that I've heard the same thing from everyone I've talked to does lead me to believe it's at least partially true. Also, I have heard that release date from people in both GSM markets (mine, which is Knoxville, TN) and TDMA markets (Chattanooga TN and Richmond KY). Hopefully the phone is on schedule this time and those of us who have been waiting ages for it can finally be satisfied.
