I am pretty sure if he/she has the ver 3.5, tapping the power button is going to bring up the power off, normal, vibrate etc. options. Infact I think that was the biggest difference between the 3.5 & the 3.7.
You're right, of course, I made that comment as a follow up to your previous post about having to upgrade to 5.5 first Yes, addition of the Autolock feature was one of the main changes in 3.7, but even in 3.5 you could lock the keypad manually (Menu + *), right?
Right, you could; although I don't remember the exact key strokes and I don't have it with me, but you are probably right. I am not into locking phones, I rarely lock my bar phones let alone a flip. It has had some interesting consequences though. I just ordered the data cable, the place you recommended did not have any in stock, so I had to pay a little more $19..99 shipped but it is from a place I have ordered before. I am looking forward to upgrading it to 5.5, and I am not E-Baying it either. I am keeping it....
Menu + * worked on all Nokia's I've laid my hands on I've been on the receiving end of a number of consequences myself Whatever works for you -- you still got yours cheaper than what I paid for mine (a whopping $23 delivered), so I won't even mention my place of purchase
Yes, you're going to love all of the new features that come with 5.5, such as the holographic internal display, the new laser lights that fool kittens and children, not to mention the instantaneous time teleportation function in the settings menu. The best part is the new stealth mode profile, which allows you to make unlimited calls to anyone in the world at any time of the day without being charged a dime . If I had known all these new features were available, I would have upgraded sooner...:browani: :loony: (Sorry for my sassiness, but it's Friday and I couldn't help it...:devil
V 05.50... and tapping the power button brings up the profiles to choose from... and tapping the volume shows the volume bar
Yes, Menu + * works on the 3.5, not that I doubted you ofcourse . Also tapping the power button brings up the keypad lock amongst other options; Umm yes Mike, thanks....:loony: All I want to make sure is there is no clicking or popping, although we are usually on 1900 and it seems to be more prevailent on 850. I just want to make sure that hubby has nothing to complain about (he uses the phone from home, since we have little to no Verizon signal) after I built up the 6131 and sold his V557....
Yes, when it's locked all outside button presses will do just that, except power. Power will additionally light up the screen and bring normal display about briefly, but will still keep the phone locked. Menu + * will unlock the phone (or opening from folded state).
That sounds like a defective unit. I can go a couple of hours talking on my 6131 and it will still show full battery after that.
ok another dumb question i need to ask.... Today i made a call using the loudspeaker on my beautiful new 6131 but when i closed the flip it didnt disconnect the call! soooooooooooo what setting do i use to make sure that when i close the flip it cancels things.
From my experience, the 6131 won't disconnect the call upon closing the fold if you're using the loadspeaker or a headset (wired or wireless). I presume it's done because in both cases you can carry on with the conversation with the fold closed. It will only cancel when closed if you were using it in regular handset mode.
I made a mistake of buying an aftermarket battery for 6131, which behaves as Mobile Mike describes. The original Nokia battery works the way yours does.
excellent!! that is soooooooo handy to know!!! thank you so much for your help... look out im sure i got a million more questions... like.. ummm... can i transfer themes & screensavers etc from a 6280 phone to 6131 via pc?
Can't tell you for sure, but check out the Oxygen Phone Manager. Typically, the preinstalled themes & screensavers are considered to be protected by copyright and normal tools like PC Suite won't allow you to read them, phone won't allow you to save them on the card, etc. OPM might aalow you to extract even the protected ones, I'm not a 100% sure. Trial version should be sufficient for the experiment. If the theme is not protected, it should be easy to transfer it from 6280 to 6131 using regular means.
Not related to any of the current posts, but I'm in England this week, and I think my UK purchased 6131 is enjoying its visit to the homeland. In automatic band mode, it moves around to different carriers as it pleases. In manual search it comes up with 4 carriers, O2, Orange, Tmobile, and Vodafone. I'm assuming if I just pick one, my battery life will be better, than letting constanting poll all four. Each has the same signal strength in London, full bars for the most part. I decided on Vodafone for now, because it seems to have the most coverage over 900 and 1800. Any clues?
It should definitely improve the battery life as long as you don't have a SIM from one of those networks, the phone will keep searching for "home" signal every now and again. How much of an improvement is hard to tell though.
I wonder... Everything else about the phone is great, unless the issue is really the original battery. In any case, I enjoyed it while I was using it, but as a mobile phone addict, it was time to move on...
I always picked one specially in Singapore & Calcutta where as many as 6 were available and all equally good. I did not notice a big difference in battery life. The battery barely lasted 12 hours with minimal to none voice & maybe 2 text messages throughtout my entire trip. I decided that it was the result of the high ambient temperatures and it would get back to normal when I came. and sure enough it did.
got 6126 recently. When i talk, the earpiece seems to make a 'shhhhhhh' noise in the background, like a wind. (I can hear the other end perfectly though) I wonder if it may be defective or is it the service ?
Probably the service. I've used many different phones on Cingular and on all the phones I have I hear that noise in the background. On GSM I think it's a feature that they added to make it sound more like a landline.
I believe your right, that they add the sound. I know a while ago there was a discussion about if they did add it, the calls are so quiet you don't know if the other person is still there. I don't remember if this was confirmed or not, and normally I don't hear any sounds and it has caused me to ask if the other person was still there it's almost like the old Sprint Landline commercial "So quiet you can hear a pin drop".
Yes, I get confused by the dead silence at times as well -- I think the call dropped when in reality it's just so quiet.
