Re: Nokia 6101 Finally Interesting to see that the 6101 isn't listed at NokiaUSA.com, going to the usual Nokia phones link sends you to the Not Found page: www.nokiausa.com/phones/6101 Nokia.com has it listed though: www.nokia.com/phones/6101
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally You are welcome Tony E, but remember there are 2 version of the 6101....850/1800/1900 and 900/1800/1900, and Plemix is only selling the 900/1800/1900. I think expansys is selling both version....Another reason why a quad is better
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally Namely the 6280 : http://www.nokia.com/phones/6280 http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6280
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally You know I thought it was the 6270 that was quad band, atleast that's the one I am waiting for..
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally The 6101 is using 900/1800/1900 The 6102 will be 850/1900/1800 Expansys doesn't show the 6102 listed anywhere, I just hope they comeout with the 6102 soon, but I don't think we will see if for at least 3 more months if not more. I see alot of people selling the 2651 on Ebay lately, I just don't like the inside design.
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally Hi Fire, You know according to the Nokia website the 6102 is a special version of the 6101. http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,70953,00.html The Nokia 6101 acually comes in 2 versions the eurasian and the US. Sort of the 6230 did. Is that how you see it?
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally That could be, especially the way this link is showing, but it does say this on the botton "*This product is only available for Nokia partner operators" I was going by what I read at Phonescoop, http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=689 they don't say which is which there, but in the forums they say it's going to be the 6102 for Cingular & T-Mobile. Of course that is all hearsey right now, some are mentioning July or August for it to be out. I guess until it's officially out here, anything is possible.
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally Judging from the red graphics on the 6102, it sure looks like it is customized for China Mobile meaning it's a very specialized model. You can barely make out China Mobile on the lower left pic with the flip's outer display showing.
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally Good catch on that, then the chinese writing on the screen may have given it away too, but I missed that as well.
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally According a couple posters at HoFo, it seems that Cingular is testing the phone for release in the fall: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=665200
Re: Nokia 6101 Finally Thanks for the clarification ShoresGuy, that makes sense. I think some of the posters at phonescoop have too vivid an imagination.....LOL, I found this when I was expecting the the launch of the 6230 and reading everything about it. . Expansys at this time is only has the 900/1800/1900 model and don't know when when they will be carrying the 850 version. They are calling the 900 the international version and the 850 the US version of the 6101. Supposedly T Mobile will have it available in mid July, it will be interesting to see which version they offer since they are looking into opening up 850Mhz. Like you said Fire "I guess until it's officially out here, anything is possible"
I just received a email news flash from Nokia. Looks like the 6102 flip model, 850/1800/1900 Mhz will be available pretty soon in the US. See http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6102/0,7747,feat:1,00.html Also the 6101 flip is now listed on the NokiaUSA site. Also 850/1800/1900 too. http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6101/0,7747,feat:1,00.html It looks like one can by the 6170 flip direct from Nokia for $259. 850/1800/1900 also. Not carried by Cingular though for reduced pricing. Only by Centennial Wireless, EDGE Wireless, i wireless http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6170/1,2803,main:1,00.html
I have been hearing the 28th the 6102 is going to be offered by Cingular, we will see if it's still true or not in a couple of weeks. I really want to check that phone out & if it's as nice as it looks, I will buy 1 on ebay.
You think ebay will have a usa version? I google for the 6101 and found a hit but it was vague about which tri bands it had (claimed both and I went to buy one and it still did not ask me to chose with one). Probably like the 6230, the 'b' part is hidden under the cover. Got to be careful. 28th is around the corner.
The 6101 is the European version for sure, and that's the only 1 I have seen on Ebay, I have done a search for the 6102 this week & only the 6101's have popped up, and if it's from 1 of those companies that have "Buy it now", they seem to show the correct frequencies of 900/1800/1900 for this version. As for the 6102, I am sure once it comes out for Cingular, it will be just a couple of weeks tops that it will be available on Ebay.
According the the Nokia USA web page, a 6101 exists that is an american version. See my post above. They did the same thing with the 6230. The 'b' is not really advertised, but buyer beware.
Hi Fire as viewfly already stated, both the the 6101 and 6102 will be also available in the US version 850/1800/1900: according to the Nokia site. The 6230 was exactly the same with the 2 versions but the same no. After a while the US version of the 6230 started being the 6230b. What is confusing me is with a quick glance I don't seem to find any difference in specs between the 6101 and the 6102. Is it possible that they will be for 2 different providers in the US, 6101 for T-Mobile and 6102 for Cingular?
That's very possible Charlyee, in todays Sunday paper there is an ad from Cingular & it's showing the 6102 in the ad & say's "coming soon" so it has to be coming out within a week. I have seen the 6101 on Nokia's European pages with the 900/1900/1800 bands only, so maybe they made 2 of them, 1 for the US for as you said T-Mobile & the 6102 for Cingular. I guess we will find out the difference between the 2 when they come out.
Charlyee it seems that though they have the same specs, they do look like two different phones, what do you think? i do like the 6101 better, which is the one i originaly was waiting for... sorry about the couple there, they got in the way of the picture....LOL
I do like the looks of the 6101 better as well, I wonder if inside they look the same? I know when I put the 6102 in for a search on Ebay, I get these listed as 6101 and when checking out the spec's they must be the European versions since they are 900/1900/1800, and this is part of what maybe has confused me about there being a 6101 as a US version & sorry for any confusion to anyone here. http://cell-phones.search.ebay.com/...efZC12QQfromZR41QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsacatZ64355
Also the way they have it listed on E-Bay "BRAND NEW NOKIA 6101 GSM PHONE UNLOCKED CAMERA 6102" just makes it more confusing..
I saw one while I was in SoCal last week. A customer/friend of my friend who run a wireless store there had one. If I had more time I would of asked him 20 questions, but I didn't want to be rude.
The 6102 and 6101 are so identical, even down to the exact weight and dimensions ( down to 0.01 oz. and 0.01inches), that I think Nokia made a mistake on their web pages. Word for word it is the same descripton! That can't be if I look at the photos.
Well I could not stand the suspense any longer and I called Nokia this morning. They are telling me that yes the 6101 and 6102 will be for different providers and there is one difference between the two in functionality and that is the 6101 will have audio with the video recoeding but the 6102 will not have any audio with the video. So the web page appears to be correct.
Jeezz, that is it?? How can they afford to do this? Also, it is still true that both don't have Bluetooth. Well, Charylee our 6230's have audio with video, so I will let this phone pass by...
I called Nokia this morning and they said that the 6101 will have audio with the video recording but not the 6102 and they will be for different providers. So, I guess if we all like the looks of the 6101 better and it has an additional feature but it is for T-Mobile we will have to look for an unlocked one as you said.
Yes they do look different physically even though they have exact same dimensions. I don't know if I like looks of the 6101 better, I kind of like the non uniform black portion of the 6102. According to Nokia the 6101 will have audio with the video recording but not the 6102 and they will be released by different providers. So it seems like the 6101 is better looking, has an additional feature but T-Mobile is going to be the provider?......hmmm PS: Here is side by side comparison from the 2 pictures you posted and without the couple.... PS: Just in case you are wondering why I posted 3 basically the same reply to you, Fire14, and viewfly, I will have to admit that I was tired of sitting at 99X posts and wanted to get to 1000
It is definetly not in par with the 6230. As a matter of fact I started the conversion with the Nokia CS by saying that I am not looking to replce my 6230 with this phone but was just interested in the difference between the 2 models. Nokia must just believe in confusing the heck out of everyone by their seemingly meaningless numbering system and their "identical but" phones. I had to ask them about the 6270 ofcourse, and all they could/would tell me is it is on target for Q4 2005 launch. Now that's the phone I can not wait to be released.
